JMT is seeking a Bridge Design Engineer to join our expanding structural design group. Candidate will participate in the engineering of various bridge structures incorporating the design of steel, reinforced concrete, and prestressed concrete. Candidate will participate in various bridge inspections to document and assess the existing conditions. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
performing structural calculations, modeling and analysis
field inspections
preparing contract drawings and specifications
estimating construction costs
reviewing contractor shop drawings and request for information (RFIs)
performing construction administration duties
maintaining project records
performing project administration
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities
Required Skills
Microstation and/or AutoCAD proficiency preferred
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Good organizational skills with attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as part of a project team and exercise independent initiative
Required Experience
Bachelor's Degree in civil, structural, or (focus on structural engineering)
0 - 2 years of experience in related structural design
FE/EIT certification desired with a desire to obtain licensure as a Professional Engineer
Experience with one or more mainstream structural analysis and design programs such as: Leap Bridge Concrete, CSiBridge, FBPier, etc.
Working knowledge of the AASHTO Codes
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
