The candidates must possess the following skills to be considered:Experience with installing, pulling, and terminating various sizes of cables (i.e., Cat - 3, 5, 6)Telecom and fiber optics experienceBasic understanding and ability to read blueprints and network layout/design mapsMust be open to travel to different job sites throughout the Hampton Roads areaIdentify technical faults through diagnostic testing, ensure that there are no exposed cables, and order replacement components as neededMaintains a safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulationsKeep supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, and verifying receiptRequirements:Telecommunications CableTelecommunications knowledgeTelecommunications technologiesAudiovisual maintenanceProvisioningTechnical understandingFunctional and technical skillsWorking independentlyDetailed OrientedVerbal communicationDocumentation skillsPreferred Education and Experience:Experience with basic networking protocols and Cat cablingDegree or certification in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience preferredOne to three years of related IT/telecommunications experienceData Center/PoP/Central Office installation, VOIP, and SIP implements experience a plus
