Job Summary

There is one position which will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidates education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities.

Mechanic I

In this developmental role, candidate will learn to perform maintenance on gas compression equipment components and instruments (pumps, controllers, valves etc.) Candidate will learn to proficiently and efficiently diagnose mechanical problems, replace and overhaul engines, check bearings and crankshafts and effectively correct deficiencies. Training will be provided on engines and compressors like Caterpillar, Waukesha, Ariel using programs like CAT Gas I & II, CAT Electrical, Ariel Basic, Ariel Mechanical, CAT 3500 ADEM III, CAT 3500ULB, Waukesha VHP and many other programs. Candidate will become a confident and accomplished compressor mechanic gaining experience and skills that are valuable for life.

Mechanic II

In this role, candidate will perform maintenance on gas compression equipment components and instruments (pumps, controllers, valves etc.) Candidate will be able to proficiently and efficiently diagnose mechanical problems, replace and overhaul engines, check bearings and crankshafts and effectively correct deficiencies. Experience with generators, engines and compressors like Caterpillar, Waukesha, Ariel using programs like CAT Gas I & II, CAT Electrical, Ariel Basic, Ariel Mechanical, CAT 3500 ADEM III, CAT 3500ULB, Waukesha VHP and other programs is preferred.

Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

Mechanic I

0-2+ years related experience (prefer some mechanical experience).

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below).

Basic knowledge of the operation of mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment such as compressors, generators and water pumps;

Basic knowledge of computer software programs needed to support stationary equipment control systems;

Knowledge of basic math to add, subtract, multiply, and divide and to perform the four operations with decimals and fractions;

Aptitude to: repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment; use industrial repair tools such as power tools, grinders, and torque wrenches; repair electrical and automation equipment;

Some ability to identify system voltages and safely lockout/tag out electrical systems;

Ability to understand and complete written and oral instructions;

Ability to move or jockey a full 55 gallon drum;

Ability to hear to respond to internal and external inquiries;

Ability to see objects at close range and to determine the distance and relationship between objects;

Ability to smell to detect natural gas;

Ability to match and discriminate between colors;

Ability to distinguish the nature of sounds to determine if equipment is running correctly or to hear a gas leak;

Ability to respond to emergency conditions which may include: changing flat tires, chaining up vehicle, operating jack, performing minor maintenance, and operating a two-way radio;

Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Mechanic II

3+ years directly related experience; (prefer some mechanical experience).

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3 plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined (above / below).

Education Requirements

Education Level: Required: High School Graduate , GED

Licenses, Certifications, or Quals Description

Undergoes random drug and/or alcohol testing; May need to possess or acquire a commercial driver's license; Must possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record; Obtains and maintains medical clearance to operate DOT-regulated vehicle; Will be required to become DOT operator-qualified while working in the position.
