Bellevue, Washington

Job Description

T-Mobile is the nation's Un-carrier thanks to an unconventional philosophy built on listening to customers and disrupting the status quo. Our execs have a lot to say about what's broken with this industry and where we see it heading in the future, so we're looking for a go-getter to help drive our efforts to amplify their voices.

We are seeking a compelling writer to join the Executive Thought Leadership team, part of the Executive Brand team within T-Mobile's Communications, Community & Events organization. You will help brainstorm, craft and fine-tune key external communications in coordination with teammates who lead Corporate Communications, Executive Brand and Values PR initiatives. You are a story-seeking influencer and work your magic in all the things!

You are an extraordinary collaborator who sees creative ideas through from inception to completion, remaining flexible along the way. The successful candidate will also be able to easily channel different voices for different leaders, projects and audiences while digging deep into the subject matter to convey how facts and stats support the story.

This is not a list of to-dos kind of job. The focus is on killer writing - we have killer stories to tell, for sure! - but we also want a driven self-starter who prioritizes teamwork, ideation and solutions for how we can be better.

What you'll do in your role.

  • Draft and edit communications materials that represent a variety of voices, focuses and audiences, including long-form narratives, articles, social media posts, speeches, press releases, scripts, talking points, and other PR and internal comms materials as needed

  • Help to bring the Un-carrier brand voice to life through topical and thought-provoking content

  • Partner across the broader team to craft messaging, with the ability to quickly adjust as priorities change

  • Provide sound communications counsel and advice to various partners across the team

  • Introduce new and creative themes, storylines and tools to the table

  • Get up to speed and jump in on projects or events when the team needs additional support

The experience you'll bring.

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, PR or related field

  • 5+ years' experience working on thought leadership or executive communications content at a PR/marketing agency or on a fast-paced corporate comms/PR team

  • Experience working with cross-functional leaders, including C-Suite executives

  • Desire to learn T-Mobile's Un-carrier storyline, how it's evolved and where it's headed

  • Background in telling stories around technology or wireless topics, such as consumer, business/Enterprise, marketing, network technology and digital

  • Knowledge of the consumer and wireless technology and industry - past, current and future a plus

  • Strong understanding of different media across various audiences (paid, earned, shared, owned)

  • Proficiency in AP style and experience publishing in blog/owned content environment

Personal Characteristics

  • Stays calm under pressure and tight deadlines

  • Thrives in fast-paced culture of change and innovation; thinks on feet and pivots on a dime

  • Displays reporter characteristics of uncovering relevant facts, stats and analytics to back up unique storytelling angles

  • Exhibits excellent organizational and follow-through skills - do what you say you'll do and dot the i's

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently but bring relevant and timely updates to the forefront at the right time

  • Works to ensure maximum productivity and upmost quality

  • Practices positive interpersonal and communication skills, critical thinking, sound judgment, upbeat attitude, high integrity, persistence and personal initiative

  • Self-starter who takes initiative rather than waiting for direction

  • Willingness to adapt to the possibility of uncertainty, new territory and change every day

  • Writing portfolio

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • T-Mobile requires all employees in this position to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to starting work, unless precluded from doing so by applicable law. The CDC currently defines -fully vaccinated- as two weeks after the second dose for Pfizer and Moderna, and two weeks after the single dose of Johnson & Johnson. T-Mobile will require proof of vaccination prior to successful applicant's first day of work, and will consider requests for exemption from this requirement during the offer phase (1) as a reasonable accommodation for medical reasons or sincerely held religious beliefs where the accommodation would not cause T-Mobile undue hardship or pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others, or (2) for other reasons under applicable law.
