Job Description

LabCorp is seeking a Medical Transcriptionist to join our team in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role will include transcribing, coding, and delivering gross descriptions on surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology.

The work schedule for this position is: Monday - Friday, 12:00 pm - 9:30 pm with rotating Saturdays, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm.

Job Description:

  • Transcribing codes and delivering gross and microscopic descriptions on surgical pathology cases comprised of moderately difficult medical terminology.

  • Accurate and timely data entry of dictated and/or handwritten pathology cases into the laboratory information system

  • Identifying problems, determines and provides/implements appropriate corrective action/accurate solutions

  • Researching, troubleshooting and follow-up to ensure all inquiries/problems are resolved in a timely manner

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma/equivalent with transcription certificate OR 1-3 years experience in transcription/transcription-related experience

  • Past pathology experience is a definite plus, but not required

  • An associate's degree is preferred

  • Previous experience using foot pedal, audio software, and word processing software preferred

  • Knowledge of medical terms and medical language.

  • Knowledge of medical billing and codes.

  • Advanced spelling and grammar required.

FLU - New Team Members will be required to present proof of influenza immunization or will be given the influenza vaccine during the pre-employment screening by Occupational Medicine or during hospital orientation between September 1 and March 31 . Dates may be extended based upon community flu burden. New Team Members employed outside of months when influenza vaccine is available will be informed of the policy and will be expected to comply with vaccination the next influenza season.
