Summary

The Field Technology Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design, production, installation, and commissioning of electrical and process control systems in support of GAF's innovative manufacturing processes. The Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Field Technology Manager and will lead various projects at our manufacturing facilities throughout the country.

Essential Duties

  • Lead assigned projects and participate in cross functional corporate project teams.

  • Design process control panels and automation systems including the specification and selection of enclosures, disconnecting means, circuit breakers, fuses, transformers and power supplies, PLCs and I/O modules, motor starters and VFDs, servo drives and motors, E-stop circuits, and other components as necessary.

  • Perform load calculations to define the appropriate size/capacity of components and wiring.

  • Develop preliminary scopes of work, cost estimates, and schedules for assigned projects.

  • Create layout drawings, panel schedules, single-line diagrams, and bills of materials.

  • Interpret and update existing -as-built- designs based on field verification.

  • Provide hands-on support for control system fabrication, factory acceptance testing (FAT), and field installation/commissioning for all assigned projects.

  • Collaborate with the Corporate Project Engineering and Corporate Process Controls teams to ensure electrical and control system designs are in compliance to GAF standards.

  • Collaborate with Procurement to acquire all materials required for project completion.

  • Actively engage in sharing best practices with peers and plant personnel

  • Provide technical leadership for all field personnel in the areas of safety, quality, and performance

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.

  • Work is typically indoors in a climate controlled environment. May be subject to outdoor work in ambient conditions.

  • Able to lift and carry up to 30lbs

Under This Roof, We Require

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering from an accredited university.

  • Minimum of 3 years working in electrical panel design for an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrated experience in the selection, integration, and troubleshooting of industrial control system components including; VFDs, PLCs, servo drives, and motors.

  • Understanding of PLC hardware, communication protocols, and industrial field I/O.

  • Working knowledge of the NEC and OSHA regulations related to electrical safety.

  • Proficiency with electrical panel design, preferably with the Autodesk software suite

  • Ability to travel up to 60% required

  • Experience in the selection, integration, and troubleshooting of Allen-Bradley control system components including PowerFlex VFDs; ControlLogix and GuardLogix PLCs; Kinetix servo drives.

  • Knowledge and application of the current version of the National Electrical Code (NEC)

  • ProficiencywithRockwellAutomationsoftware:Studio5000,RSLogix500,FTView,CCW, or FTAC.

  • Programming via ladder logic or function blocks. Configuration of field instruments and control devices.

  • Experience in the development, installation and maintenance of data acquisition systems and HMI systems, Aveva Solutions (preferred).

  • Experience leading projects including field supervision of installation and commissioning.

  • Experience with Google G Suite

Annual Salary Range: 101,250-129,375
