Job Description

Title: COMPUTER SPECIALIST (ELECTRONIC & MESSAGING ENGINEER) Location: United States-Virginia-Virginia Beach Job Number: 2200048P Job Summary: Serves as Electronic Messaging Engineer providing overall systems support of NEXCOMs electronic messaging systems. Duties and Responsibilities: Incumbents of this position must be U.S. Citizens. Provides clientserver administration associated with Microsoft Exchange and Electronic Messaging through the desktop environment and Web Interface. Supports electronic collaboration tools including email instant chat conferencing and other social networking technologies. Performs the following operational tasks but are not limited to configuration testing implementation systemuser security information security system monitoringtroubleshooting and documentation. Monitors and manages the operational efficiency and performance of the Exchange infrastructure with situational awareness of SPAM phishing malicious packages and spoofing. Provides Tier 2 and 3 support in the use of Microsoft ExchangeOutlook Outlook Web Access OWA and Lync to Client Support Center Staff IT Technicians and end users. Maintains third party software to assist with mail routing and server administration i.e. Mimesweeper Clearswift etc. Implements and supports Faxcom. Collaborates with other IT professionals to interface Microsoft Exchange with multiple Operating Systems and applications. Supports automatic archiving of all email messages. Maintains working knowledge of Microsoft Windows to support Microsoft Exchange. Requires on call 247 support after hours. Ensureimplement the rigorous application of Information SecurityInformation Assurance policies principles and practices in the delivery of Systems Applications andor Services Hardware Software. Performs other related duties as assigned IAT2 jobs This position is designated IT2 NonCritical Sensitive in accordance with SECNAV M5510.30 and will require a favorable Access National Agency Check and Inquiries ANACI. This position has been designated as a Cyber ITCybersecurity Workforce position in Specialty Area 45 and as a condition of employment incumbents of this position are required to comply with the DON Cyber ITCSWF Program requirements of SECNAV M5239.2 which include 1. Earn and maintain appropriate credentials from the Cyber ITCSWF Qualification Matrix described in SECNAV M5239.2 associated with the specialty area and level commensurate with the scope of major assigned duties for the position to which you are assigned and 2. Per SECNAVINST 1543.2 Cyber ITCSWF individuals shall participate annually in 40 hours of continuous learning CL activities to be documented in a current individual development plan IDP signed by both the employee and supervisor. 3. Required Minimum Cyber security Credentials in order of precedence to qualify for the position are a. Education at least one of the following i.. A Signed Privileged Access Statement 6. Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job but must obtain the required certifications within 6 months of appointment failure to obtain this requirement will result in termination of employment. Qualifications: U.S. Citizenship required. GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years experience in administrative technical or investigative work which demonstrated the ability and aptitudes required to perform technical managerial or analytical work involving management information systems. OR SUBSTITUTION OF EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION: One year of related academic study above the high school level may be substituted for 9 months of experience up to a maximum of a 4 year bachelors degree in a business information systems discipline for 3 years of general experience. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of four years of experience in the following Electronic Messaging technologies Electronic Messaging architectures design configure implement support Networking protocols TCPIPPOP3 SMTP Microsoft Exchange Messaging Backup and Archives. IAT2 jobs SECNAV M5239.2 DoN Information Assurance IA Workforce Manual requires that all incumbents of this position possess and maintain current two types of certifications as follows IA Certification One of the following certifications A Network Systems Security Certified Practitioner SSCP or one of the following higher level certification Security GIAC Security Essentials Certification GSEC Security SecurityCertified Network Professional SCNP Certified Information Security Auditor CISA Certified Information Systems Security Professional CISSP GIAC Security Expert GSE Security Certified Network Architect SCNA. NEXCOM preferred certification is Security Technical Certification MCTS Microsoft Exchange Server 2010 certification or any replacement certificate or exam that Microsoft may announce in the future to replace Exchange Server 2010 Configuration Exam 70662. Candidates without the required certification may be placed into this job but must obtain the required certification within 6 months of appointment failure to obtain the proper certification requirement will result in termination of employment. This position is designated IT1 Critical Sensitive in accordance with SECNAV M5510.30 and will require a favorable Single Scope Background Investigation SSBI.
