SR. SOFTWARE ENGINEER, TEST AUTOMATION (STARLINK WI-FI)

SpaceX is developing the world's largest constellation of low earth orbit satellites to bring top-tier internet to underserved populations around the globe. At Starlink speeds, the final WiFi link is a critical and challenging piece of this mission. We need to build one of the best WiFi routers in the world at a fraction of traditional costs, and we need your help to make it a reality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design and build the machine that tests the machine: An automated RF test environment for WiFi mesh performance across the dizzying array of real-world homes, airplanes, and user devices we must support.

  • Design and build next-gen automated test infrastructure that enables rapid iteration and joyful debugging.

  • Work closely with a tight-knit team of hardware and software engineers to build a revolutionary product at an unprecedented velocity.

  • Solve problems across all layers of the stack from RF/PHY to MAC to network.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline or physics.

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience in C, C++, Python, or other modern programming language.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong background in test automation.

  • Strong adversarial testing mindset and debugging skills.

  • Experience shipping a highly rated consumer product.

  • Experience with wireless MAC and networking protocols.

  • Experience with embedded systems and security.

  • Solid fundamental knowledge of math, physics, RF, and networking.

  • Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals.

  • Proven track record solving difficult engineering problems, and a hunger to dive into complex systems and make them work.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be available to work extended hours as needed.

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
