The Senior Developer is responsible for leading the development and maintenance of Atria's suite of branded community websites, leveraging the WordPress CMS platform and other common front-end/back-end technology stacks. In addition to development tasks, the Senior Developer is responsible for site plugins management, 3rd party integrations, security enhancements, performance monitoring and troubleshooting. The Developer operates in a highly collaborative, cross functional, self-organization Agile team consisting of copyrighter(s), UI/UX designers(s), Product Owner and Scrum Master.

  • Work within the Agile Scrum/Kanban team environment - attending and actively engaging in all scrum team ceremonies including daily stand ups, refinements, planning, and retrospectives.

  • Provide leadership/guidance/mentoring to both developer and non-developer team members.

  • Champion Digital Marketing development standards and best practices.

  • Champion Digital Marketing's accessibility efforts.

  • Build and maintain Atria's suite of branded community websites leveraging the WordPress CMS and other technology front-end/back-end technology stacks.

  • Collaborate with UI Designers/Copywriters, translate page design mockups into front-end code.

  • Architect and manage WordPress website's back-end including database and server integration.

  • Generate custom WordPress themes and plugins.

  • Perform routine code reviews as needed for other developers, providing feedback with a focus on quality.

  • Manage the continuous integration and continuous. deployment (CI/CD) of website code across multiple sites and environments.

  • Troubleshoot WordPress website content and performance issues.

  • Monitor the performance of the production WordPress websites.

  • Consistently hold conversations and make decisions based on what's best for the team versus their personal preference.

  • Consistently challenge and inspire the team to maximize their potential.

  • Be the vocal technology leader for the Digital Marketing department; regularly step into leadership roles and provide guidance and assistance.

  • Remain comfortable providing constructive feedback to all team members.

  • Consistently hold team members accountable for value delivery.

  • Consistently challenge and inspire the team to maximize their potential.

  • Maintain positive professional relationships with individuals within and outside their respective team.

  • Remain comfortable collaborating across agile teams.

  • Address team/individual conflicts head-on when they occur leveraging common workplace conflict resolution techniques (i.e. Active Listening, mirroring, FBI, etc...)

  • May perform other duties as needed and/or assigned.

  • Five (5) years of experience in Developer role or equivalent industry experience.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study preferred.

  • Strong understanding of the senior living industry as well as healthcare and hospitality industries.

  • Strong understanding of Digital Marketing's role in supporting core business processes

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conceptualize complex business processes.

  • Excellent technical, verbal and written communication skills

  • Experienced and comfortable collaborating with customers and senior leadership.

  • Strong understanding of lean/agile principles and methodologies. Displays an agile mindset daily. Always mindful of optimizing the whole. Comfortable coaching and influencing others to have an agile mindset.

  • Has a strong desire and demonstrated ability to be SME in relevant technologies, methodologies, and processes being leveraged.

  • Actively seek out new learning opportunities and has a demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt as needed.

  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of current technology stacks/languages and software development concepts and methodologies

  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of content management systems and custom theme development.

  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of common database-management systems (DBMS) and query languages (i.e. T-SQL).

  • Strong understanding of architecture design patterns.

  • Strong understanding and champion of application security best practices and data compliance laws.

  • Strong understanding of application performance monitoring and optimization techniques.

  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (i.e. Azure, AWS, etc....).

  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of DevOps principles and tooling.

  • Strong understanding and applied knowledge of building/consuming RESTful APIs. Knowledgeable on REST API best practices and architectural patterns.

  • Strong understanding of the importance of accessibility in the product development lifecycle. Familiar with industry accessibility guidelines/standards/best practices and accessibility laws/governing bodies.
