SAIC is looking for a Data Center Technician Administrator to support the US Army Corps of Engineers on the Revolutionary IT Services (USACE RITS) contract through data center hardware (Routers, switches, and wireless) support under a DoD/DISN environment.
NOTE: This role is remote with on-site activities in Ashburn, VA.
Job Description:
Operate, optimize, and maintain the infrastructure within the data center environment.
Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of the data center network.
Monitor network and service performance, identify bottlenecks and implement necessary moves, adds and changes.
Collaborate with systems administrators, security teams and other stakeholder to ensure network security and compliance with industry standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve system related issues, such as connectivity problems, routing errors and performance degradation.
Conduct regular network assessments and capacity planning to support future growth and scalability.
Stay up to date with emerging networking technologies and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency and performance.
Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, diagrams, and procedures.
Provide on-call support and participate in an on-call rotation schedule.
Responsible for rack/stack, cabling, maintenance and troubleshooting of all IT equipment, tools and consumables in the data center.
Adhere and enforce data center best practices such as cable management, airflow management, labeling end to end communication and power cables in accordance of data center standards.
Participation of project coordination meeting and clear communication of necessary information needed to update engineering and project management.
Work with facility managers to maintain and identify changes to electrical and mechanical systems that affect the assigned data center space, focusing on availability, service delivery and hosted facility customer relationship management.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's and two (2) years or more of related experience. Additional experience accepted in lieu of degree
Experience in a Data Center role involving infrastructure.
In-depth knowledge of networking protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, VLAN, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, and DNS.
Hands-on experience with network hardware, including switches, routers, load balancers, and firewalls.
Proficient in network monitoring and troubleshooting tools, such as Wireshark, SNMP, and packet analysis.
Strong understanding of network security principles and best practices and data center best practices.
Familiarity with the use of DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and running checklists and remediation of any findings.
Familiarity with virtualization technologies, such as VMware or Hyper-V, and experience with SDN/NFV concepts is a plus.
Knowledge and familiarity with the Command Line Interface (CLI) used by Cisco devices.
Knowledge and use of ServiceNow or similar ticketing system.
Required Certifications:
Minimum Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification
Minimum DoD 8140/8570.01-m IAT Level II certificate (Security+, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP)
Must certify IAT Level III certificate (CASP+ CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, GCIH, CCSP) no more than 180 days after hire.
