LEAD ELECTRICIAN (MARINE SYSTEMS)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and coordinate the team responsible for maintaining the electrical infrastructure of SpaceX marine systems supporting F9, Dragon, and Starship offshore operations
Develop cost improvement plans and energy reduction programs for overall site sustainability
Troubleshoot electrical equipment such as motor control centers, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
Support other facilities, security, and operation teams on special projects
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
Licensed Journeyman Electrician; or 5+ years working as a journeyman and can obtain state certification within 6 months of start date
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experienced in electrical and PLC controls
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the following systems: electrical power distribution systems, switchgear and motor control centers, exterior and interior lighting, ground support system controls and ladder logic, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units, standby and emergency generators, automatic transfer switches, power monitoring hardware and software, data/phone distribution and wiring, building and site grounding systems
Ability to use a variety of electrician's hand tools including sawzall, conduit bender, clamp on current meter, and wire tugger, jig saw, hydraulic punch, hand punch, hack saw, multimeter, and spade lug crimper, as well as other measuring and testing instruments
Experience with Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and industrial pumps
Experience with control panel design and production
Working knowledge of power coordination and Arc Flash
Excellent team-working skills
Able to work on multiple tasks concurrently
High level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under minimal supervision
Good organizational skills
Excellent communication skills
Ability to write weekly summary of accomplishments using MS Office
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
General physical fitness is required for some work areas; hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required
Ability to lift heavy objects up to 35 lbs unassisted
Valid driver's license
Ability to work at elevated heights
Ability to work in extreme environments - heat, cold, rain, fumes, odors, and noise
Willing to work extended hours and weekends, as needed
Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral
