Summary The primary purpose of a Supervisory Store Associate is to act as the second line supervisor and manager of the Front-End Department of a Commissary. The incumbent is fully responsible for all aspects of planning, scheduling, coordinating and controlling front end activities and personnel, and controlling all funds received and deposited daily as part of the front-end department operations in a Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) facility. Additional positions may be filled from this announcement. Responsibilities Position responsibilities include: First line supervisor for store associates. Front end operations including patron identification, customer inquiries, check out and cash control. Non-perishable stock control including transporting item and stocking shelves. Meat display and case stocking. Produce inspection, display and rotation. Account maintenance, supply and computer operations. Physical requirements: Frequently lift, push, pull, carry and handle commissary products weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Work includes long periods of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending and climbing. Knowledge of various departments within a grocery store in order to evaluate work, provide instruction and conduct on the job training for workers. Carry out daily retail grocery store functions necessary to successfully execute store operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
