BCD Meetings & Events: Audio Engineer - Hybrid in Chicago, IL
BCD is looking for an inhouse Audio Engineer to operate as an A1 for small shows and A2 for large programs. All the benefits and consistency of full-time employment while utilizing audio operation expertise.
The Audio Engineer, A1, designs and runs event audio for events - from broadcast to live. An A1 has experience in audio setups and equipment. This role works predominantly on-site, traveling to live events, broadcasts, and hybrid events. The position also does technical research on new equipment and manages BCD equipment.
This person has a background in audio and is a flexible team player who is willing to go the extra mile while maintaining work-life-balance. This position reports to the Director of Event Management.

As an Audio Engineer, you will:
Execute events onsite as an A1 or A2 as experience sees fit.
Review audio orders for events
Be a point of authority for production managers to answer questions on technical audio setups and equipment requirements
Research new equipment and creative executions
Research and implement internal and show software
Sound design for content
Maintain and organize company owned equipment
Operate in a hybrid capacity in our Chicago studio. Applicants must be located in Chicagoland.
You are good at:
Verbal and written communication
Traveling regularly
Microsoft Office Suite (Excel/PPT etc.), Keynote, Mac
Lifting up to 50lbs and working with equipment and large cases
Understanding of audio, power, and rigging in terms of PA systems
You might also have:
Presonus mixer operation
Yamaha mixer operation
Troubleshooting efficiently in high pressure circumstance
Knowledge in:
Shure Wireless
Axient Shure Wireless
Freespeak
Clearcom Wired Com
Rio Boxes
You should know:
This role requires significant travel and office work for equipment storage.
There will be time spent working from home.
Travel for this role is 50-70%, international and domestic.
A valid driver's license and passport are required.
A bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in audio operation for live events
Our standard office working hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM with an hour break
Our standard on-site day is 10 hours, but OT is not uncommon on-site.
Covid vaccination might be required for this role.

The salary range for candidates in applicable jurisdictions in the US for the position of Audio Engineer is between $55,000 and $70,000. The actual pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, geographical location and project budget.
