RF COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS ENGINEER
The Avionics RF team is responsible for communication systems and RF sensors on our entire fleet of spacecraft and launch vehicles (Starship, Dragon, HLS, satellites). This team is responsible for designing systems and architectures that enable new vehicle capabilities, and take the necessary components and products from concept to flight. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze spacecraft communication system performance - including link budget analysis, co-site interference, multiple access, etc
Script and software development for recurring system analysis
Conduct or participate in customer and/or program technical review or flight readiness presentations
Ensure compliance through analysis, test, and operations with spectrum licensing and regulations
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or computer science
1+ years of RF communications system work or project experience
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree in electrical engineering with a focus on digital signal processing, or communication systems, or RF design
Experience with link budget analysis, power flux density, dilution of precision, doppler, etc.
Experience developing and testing WiFi systems
Proficiency with radio related test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, vector signal analyzers, vector signal generator, network analyzers
Experience with Python, Matlab, or C programming for data analysis
Knowledge of digital communication theory and testing, bit error rate, EVM, and system noise figure
Experience using STK or other spacecraft simulation software
Knowledge of digital communication systems including spread spectrum, forward error correction, and modulation types such as FSK, BPSK, QPSK, QAM, and PCM/FM
Experience managing multidisciplinary technical projects
Excellent communication and documentation skills and ability to collaborate with other engineering disciplines
