District Starting Wage: $21.00/ hour

Overview

The Associate Repository Technician will perform assigned activities within the repository service operations areas. The incumbent will utilize the biorepository / biobanking industry best practices to perform work according to SOPs and ATCC corporate and departmental policies and procedures. This shift runs Sunday-Thursday overnight.

This position is responsible for the receipt, inventory, storage, withdraw, and shipping of biological specimens, samples, and materials. Commercial and government client materials are stored at temperatures ranging from ambient to -196C, and have potentially hazardous properties. This position uses database applications and standard precautionary procedures to work independently, communicate effectively, and make sound decisions. Work is performed following standard operating procedures and is routinely reviewed by the supervisor for accuracy and adherence to standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensures material and sample data are accurately entered and tracked in ERP system.

  2. Processes incoming materials and prepares outgoing samples for shipping or delivery.

  3. Works closely with supervisors to support customer inquiries, such as discrepancies in shipments, inventory maintenance, and database updates.

  4. Assists management in completion of reports for customer complaints, process deviations, incidents, and accidents in a timely manner.

  5. Monitors temperature/liquid nitrogen (LN 2 ) levels and documents systems alerts.

  6. Cleans freezers and tanks, consolidates/reorganizes internal specimens.

  7. Demonstrates the flexibility to travel to other facilities and respond to after-hour emergencies.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1-year work experience with data entry, shipping or receiving, sample management.

  • Experience working with a company wide enterprise based system (ERP/MRP) is highly desirable.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • PCs competence including MS/Windows, Excel, Word and an ability to learn other applications.

  • Knowledge of methods to handle, process, and store biological specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system.

  • Knowledge of Universal precautions, general laboratory, and quality control/assurance procedures.

  • Must be able to communicate well in English, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to complete work under tight deadlines and have strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with temperature sensitive materials
