Description
SAIC is looking for a CAD Designer/Drafter Intern to support the engineering, development, integration and sustainment of numerous state-of-the-art satellite ground systems to work throughout the summer and beyond. You will work closely with other drafters, the Chief Engineer and senior systems engineers and support Satellite Ground System needs. You will be part of a knowledgeable research, design, development, test, and evaluation team producing drawing packages per ANSI standards and will provide assistance to create, update and maintain drawing packages. The work will be performed at the local SAIC office in Albuquerque, NM and the schedule will be determined based on the selected candidate's availability.
Fun stuff you will do on the job:
Create and modify detailed drawings using standard computer aided design (CAD) digitizing techniques and skills from sketches, layouts or notes provided by engineering.
Digitize, edit, and revise engineering drawings of components, parts, circuits, structures and/or assemblies.
Check drawing plots versus the project input for correctness and conformance to standards.
Collaborate with engineers regarding model accuracy, design, drafting standards and ECN/ECR documentation.
May require engineering computations, mathematical calculations, determines scales, and prepares or revises specifications.
Receive close supervision involving detailed instructions and constant checking on work performance.
Qualifications
This is you:
High School Diploma or equivalent and currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing an Associates or Bachelor's in Engineering or Technical field, or related STEM discipline graduating in 2025, 2026, 2027 or 2028.
Must be proficient in basic computer software, such as Microsoft Office products
Some experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software; such as AutoCAD, Cameo, Creo, Solidworks, Ideas etc.
Willingness to quickly learn the AutoCAD and Cameo software, self-taught with support from other drafters/designers.
Able to apply job skills and company policies to complete a wide range of tasks.

Associates degree in Engineering or Technical field, or related STEM discipline.
Familiarity with AutoCAD.
Familiarity with Visio.
Familiarity with Cameo.
Ability to ensure the correct level of detail for design, prototype and production.
