Description
SAIC is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance Engineer to work as part of an integrated industry-government team working to design, develop, demonstrate, and sustain embedded software systems.
The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will ensure the integrity, reliability, and reproducibility of our internally and externally developed embedded software products for military systems from conception to release and have a hands-on role with the support of software for the Army's current and future ground combat and tactical vehicles, weapons, and support systems; and will require involvement in all stages of the development cycle.
This position will require the candidate to be on-site at the US Army Ground Vehicle System Center (GVSC) in Warren, MI several days per week in a hybrid work environment.
Job Description :
Provides definition, development, and deployment of a software quality assurance strategy, addressing all phases of embedded software/product development.
Develops/executes quality assurance program plans.
Establishes process and product quality control tolerance ranges for compliance and acceptability/qualification.
Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
Reviews, verifies, and validates software and process change requests and authenticates code implementations.
Monitor every phase of the software development process to ensure design quality, making sure that the software adheres to the standards set by the agreement between the organization and customer.
Maintains product consistency throughout product cycle, to include the design, define and build phases through quality checkpoints.
Conduct functional and physical configuration audits for product acceptance/qualification/release.
Ensure that software products work as intended prior to release to the customer.
Develops and manages quality assurance metrics.
Recommends and implements approved quality improvement processes.
Oversees and provides final approval of product testing efforts.
Involved in the entire software development lifecycle to include software design, writing source code, control of source code, reviewing code, configuration management, change management, program testing, integration of software and release management processes.
Maintains quality assurance issue database and tracks items to closure.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Minimum 9 years of software development experience with at least 3 years of experience in software quality assurance
Experience with developing or modifying software quality assurance plans, policies, and procedures tailored to the complexity and scope of the developmental or operational system.
Experience with implementation and administration of Software Quality Assurance metrics
Experience with Linux and/or QNX required, other embedded OS experience
Experience with software industry best practices like Capability Maturity Model Integrated at least level 3 standards
Knowledge of Lean/Six-Sigma principles and practices.
Knowledge of software engineering and lifecycle management standards, regulations, processes and best practices
Ability to review source code against chosen coding standards
Experience working in Agile development environment
