Job Summary
Amentum is currently seeking a Software Engineer to join our award winning team.
You will be part of our growing software team designing, developing, and testing a vast array of systems. You must be eager to solve complex challenges, work in a fast-paced environment, and work with top notch engineers. Apply your skills to the latest DoD weapon and sensor systems, modernizing the navy and ensuring mission success. Engineers will research, develop capabilities and eliminate vulnerabilities for a variety of software components and document results.
The selected candidate will support the Ship Self-Defense program by providing software support throughout the life-cycle for the Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) software baselines.
The selected candidate will be involved in one or more of the following tasks:
Researching, designing, implementing, and managing software products used in SSDS.
Testing and evaluating new software solutions, including performing an analysis of alternatives as new solutions are required.
Modifying existing software to add functionality and correct bugs found in Trouble Reports (TRs).
Researching and implementing software modules to allow existing software to interact with new cabinet hardware.
Modifying existing software to provide additional functionality for SSDS.
Documenting all changes, both in code and formal documentation.
Participating in code reviews for software written by the incumbent and other members of the team.
Supporting Combat System Engineering Agent (CSEA) with integration of software products.

Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree (in Computer Science, Math, Engineering, or Related Field) and 2 years of experience or 10 years of relevant experience.
1 year of experience with Java.
Familiarity with distributed version control tools such as git and mercurial.
Comprehensive knowledge in definition and management of software requirements, design, code, benchmark testing, debugging, software development life-cycle, architecture, and documentation.
Experience in an Agile software development environment and methodologies.
Must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with life-cycle management tools (e.g. codeBeamer).
Familiarity with DevOps pipelines (i.e. Jenkins).
Familiarity with static code analysis tools (e.g. SonarQube, Fortify).
Broad familiarity with software development languages used in SSDS MK 2 open architecture baselines, such as: Python,
LaTeX, and Linux scripting.
Familiarity with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux (5/6/7) environment and daemon services.
