The pay range is $89,700.00 - $161,500.00

As a Sr. Manager ESG, Controls & Governance, you are responsible for owning and implementing a comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) control program and ensuring readiness for new disclosure regulations in partnership with our ESG Accounting team. This will include governance over both data and our external disclosures within ESG, working proactively to identify existing and emerging risks, assist with maintaining a comprehensive internal control program, and maintaining acumen across various systems and applications to strengthen the overall control environment. Here, you'll build strong partnerships across the company to provide risk insights and consulting services and to enable Target to develop innovative risk management solutions. Maintain objectives for ESG controls program and create a near- and longer-term cross-functional roadmap to implement objectives
Support and advance a risk-based approach to prioritizing ESG Reporting areas and maintain an intimate understanding of emerging stakeholder and regulatory reporting expectations
In partnership with the ESG Accounting team, define expectations for, and implement enterprise-wide ESG reporting controls under the -three lines of defense- model
Work across the sustainability leadership team to develop and implement a risk-based approach to data management underlying ESG reporting controls (e.g., accountability & ownership, quality, knowledge, accessibility, security, metric determination)
Implement, support and maintain the controls culture across Sustainability and ESG program owners, including collaboration with the ESG accounting team to define, document and socialize educational materials for key partners
Support the ESG disclosure governance process, including the facilitation of escalations, and the introduction of routines or processes to support timely and efficient disclosures
Establish a cross-functional framework that embeds reporting and controls responsibilities and commitments throughout the company; identify and implement strategies that build acumen, ownership and commitment to Target Forward outcomes across partner teams

About you:
Bachelor's degree in related field, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience
6 years of audit, risk or related business/retail experience including specific experience in auditing and enterprise risk management concepts (e.g. risk assessment/prioritization, process and internal controls, etc.)
Experience in using data and analytical tools, including Excel, to solve business problems and throughout the audit lifecycle
Ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities, and distill complex issues into actionable plans
Effective communication skills with the ability to develop effective and collaborative relationships with key business leaders in order to drive accountability, instill confidence, and influence outcomes across business functions
Ability to adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to changing, ambiguous or competing priorities
Preferred Requirements
Advanced degree in business or related field
Expertise in environmental and social issues, key stakeholders (investors, raters, rankers, NGOs, government/regulators), and ESG reporting frameworks
SEC reporting experience
CPA/CIA
SASB Fundamentals of Sustainable Accounting Certification
This position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target's needs. A Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement means the team member's core role will need to be performed both onsite at the Target HQ MN location the role is assigned to and virtually, depending upon what your role, team and tasks require for that day.
