Electrical Spec-High Voltage
Inspect, repair, replace, install, adjust, maintain, and make necessary tests on all medium and low voltage 15KV, 4160V, 480V and 208V utility systems, equipment, motors, MCC panels, generators, transformers, switchgears, substations, distribution systems.
Responsibilities
Work from prints, diagrams, specification, and instructions covering emergency and scheduled repairs; as well as installation, testing, and inspection of work to be done on electrical utility systems, both medium and low voltages: including, but not limited to, distribution systems, 125VDC systems, and UPS systems, as assigned.
Analyze, troubleshoot, modify, install, and repair power delivery and distribution equipment and electrical circuits using prints, diagrams, and test instruments.
Test, inspect, clean, repair, dismantle, adjust, and replace all power equipment, transformers, switchgear, MCC, control panels, motors, and various other electrical apparatus.
Assist and perform switching on electrical utility systems, placing blocking, grounds, locks, etc., on utility systems (15KV, 4160V and 480V), as required by operational switching procedures.
Work on service lines for the isolation or grounding of circuits, maintenance, and troubleshooting demands to maintain operation.
Directs other repair personnel as assigned.
Prepare and maintain records and reports on electrical utility equipment for maintenance programs based on all information obtained through tests and preventative maintenance procedures. Take corrective action, as necessary.
Perform safety inspections during facility additions or repairs to insure safe and continuous operation of electrical utilities systems and equipment, as required.
Test, calibrate, and maintain protective devices on electrical utility system and equipment and keep prints up to date on 15KV distribution feeders.
Perform duties equivalent to a Grade 1 Electrician as required.
Minimum Knowledge
EDUCATION: High school, technical school, apprenticeship, trade school graduate or equivalent required.
EXPERIENCE: Eight years' experience in the electrical trade in maintenance and/or construction required.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Journeyman Electrician license.
Possess a strong background in industrial and commercial electrical apparatus and control circuitry maintenance.
Possess a strong background in low voltage switchgear maintenance and repair.
Must be thoroughly familiar with electrical test equipment.
Ability to write as well as comprehend written and oral instructions
A willingness to work rotational shifts if necessary, including days, evenings, and nights, as well as overtime, weekends, and holidays, as required.
Possess knowledge of current NEC regulations.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master electrician license.
- NFPA-70E Training.
- OSHA 10 Training
- CPR Training
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
SECURITY: Must be a U.S. Citizen, able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
Work Environment
Incumbents may work in conditions that require operating industrial machinery/power tools and motor vehicles. Additionally, incumbents may participate in work that requires walking, bending, squatting, and carrying materials throughout the facility. Workplace conditions necessitate following strict safety guidelines and the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Work tasks requiring the incumbent to lift weight more than 50 pounds requires two or more persons.
