Title: (NEX NORFOLK) FABRIC WORKER (FITTER) Location: United States-Virginia-Norfolk Job Number: 230002OR Job Summary: Performs work involved in fitting uniforms for new recruits ensuring proper fit and upon completion. Duties and Responsibilities: Measures new recruits for fitting of uniforms. Complete uniforms, raincoats, jackets, pea coats, etc. . Measures neck, sleeves and waist. Checks uniform for proper fit, ensuring uniforms are put on properly before marking. Marks garment at designated point for any alterations deemed necessary (i.e. length of trousers, sides, waist, and sleeves). Forwards to appropriate section for finishing alteration. Inspects each completed uniform for final fitting. Where required makes readjustment of fitting. Performs other related duties as assigned. PHYSICAL EFFORT Sits or stands for long periods with continual movement of hands, feet, arms, and fingers in placing items in position. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in well lighted and ventilated areas This position is represented by the American Federation of Government Employees, Local 53 Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE Twelve months experience performing work involving garment fitting to ensure proper fit and upon alteration completion, taking customer's physical measurements and marking garments at designated points for alterations (i.e. length of trousers, sides, waist, and sleeves, etc.) SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE One year of high school education may be substituted for 3 months of experience up to a High School Diploma or GED for 12 months of experience.
