SAIC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support NAVAIR in Indianapolis, IN.

Note: This position is a hybrid remote position with approx. 4 days a week onsite at our office in Indianapolis.

JOB DESCRIPTION :

At the Indianapolis office, the candidate will support PMA 205. The candidate will support a POD simulator (Tactical Combat Simulator) program for military aircraft, ships, etc. Members of the team comprise of engineers and drafting technicians, updating data packages for the combat simulators. The drafting technicians on the team use various programs such as Siemens NX and ZUKEN, converting documents to Word, redlining drawings, and updating with part numbers, and converting into ASME standards. The engineering candidate would be a project lead responsible for research and analysis of parts, while managing a team and daily workflow. The data package consists of a total of approx. 4000 drawings. The candidate would be responsible for redlining documents, updating standardization of the POD data package (tactical combat simulator for military aircraft, and ships) and working with team to stand up a Depot.

JOB DUTIES :

  • Engineering and team leadership including concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, system analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, and systems integration.

  • Ensures the effective team implementation of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.

  • Performs Systems Engineering activities related to development of electronic assemblies.

  • Performs detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications.

  • Provides specific detailed information for selection and implementation techniques.

  • Duties require a good understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the fields of aircraft power, analog and digital design, software systems concepts and design for test and manufacturing.

  • Receives assignments in the form of objectives and establishes goals to meet outlined objectives.

  • Provides direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance.

  • Work is reviewed by management to measure whether objectives have been met.

  • Provides technical solutions to a wide range of problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.

  • Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable and consistent with organization objectives.

  • Works under management guidance.

  • Independently determines and develops approach to solutions.

  • Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

  • Contributes to completion of specific programs and projects.

  • Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources.

  • Frequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts.

  • Represents organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with projects.

  • Works from interfaces and specifications to realize in hardware and software weapons control and delivery systems.

  • Full lifecycle support of SAIC provided systems.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND CLEARANCE :

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering discipline and five (5) years or more experience.

  • US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

  • Familiar with product development procedures in an automotive, medical or defense environment.

  • Familiar with requirement tracking and project tracking software.

  • Experience with analog and digital design.

  • Experience with systems using embedded microprocessors and FPGAs

DESIRED EXPERIENCE :

  • DOORS and Product Life Cycle Management tools experience a strong plus.

  • Knowledge of Integrated Defense Acquisition and Logistics Life Cycle Management System and the System Engineering Technical Review processes (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PRR).

  • MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) experience a strong plus.

  • Experience with DoD weapons integration, aircraft systems and weapons control and delivery systems.
