SUPERVISOR, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY
The EHS Supervisor will lead the EHS Technicians in all work efforts related to Environmental and Health and Safety, as assigned by the EHS Manager. As part of this leadership role, it is expected that the EHS Supervisor perform the same work tasks assigned to staff EHS technicians. The EHS Supervisor will take on leadership and supervisory responsibilities to ensure the overall compliance, success and wellbeing of the EHS technicians and EHS program. They will lead by example, setting the bar for all environmental, health, and safety related tasks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Management
Manage the day-to-day and long-term activities/priorities of the EHS technician team
Ensure a collaborative relationship with the EHS technician and engineering teams
Coordinate employee schedules, work assignments, time keeping requirements, and hiring
Provide instructional guidance of job assignments, correct procedures and applicable techniques to perform specific skills; ensure accuracy and completion
Review and approve purchase orders, manage operational budget
Ensure technicians are completing all required tasks thoroughly and on time
Document all performance and compliance issues with Technicians
Ensure assigned tasks are completed to acceptable standards and timelines
Environmental
Ensure that environmental tasks are allocated and completed as directed by the EHS Manager
Responsible for environmental compliance with all applicable regulations including but not limited to EPA/RCRA, US Fish and Wildlife, US Coast Guard, TCEQ, TXDOT, TX Parks and Wildlife, TX General Land Office, and Railroad Commission of Texas
Perform tasks and ensure compliance related to Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) regulatory hazardous waste handling, storage and disposal requirements
Assume signatory responsibility, where appropriate, on hazardous waste manifests
Ensure all documentation, reporting and filing of hazardous waste manifests and paperwork are completed, accurate, organized, and in compliance
Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits
Health and Safety
Manage 24/7 field safety coverage (with the EHS technician team) with the goal to identify and correct work place hazards and unsafe conditions
Ensure that resources are allocated appropriately to safety related items
Ensure technicians are completing required safety inspections
Assist in the implementation and compliance of site-specific safety policies
Assist in the creation of job hazard analysis (JHA) and personal protective equipment (PPE) assessments
Coordinate and conduct EHS emergency response drills and fire drills as needed
Coordinate and assist with EHS trainings as needed
Ensure notification and corrective actions are put in place when any unsafe condition is presented or found throughout the site
Assist the EHS engineers in accident/mishap investigations when necessary
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
5+ years of leading a team implementing and overseeing aspects of an environmental, health and safety program
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Experience implementing/developing health and safety plans and policies
Experience leading a team of safety professionals
Experience in managing hazardous waste storage and satellite accumulation areas
Experience with emergency response crews in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
Ability to work in a construction and general industry environments
Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, engineers and management
Ability to multi-task, to manage shifting priorities, and to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
Demonstrated success for hands-on work and attention to detail in either academic or career pursuits
Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
Experience using Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Able to work all shifts, overtime and/or weekends as needed
Able to stand for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
Able to lift up to 50lbs. unassisted
