ARCHITECT, SPACEPORT DEVELOPMENT

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and maintain a master plan for Boca Chica production facilities and spaceport village with considerations for phased development and construction

  • Provide onsite support to construction and build engineering teams to provide quick technical architectural details that solve field issues in real time

  • Prepare signage plans and renderings for a continuously evolving site

  • Create design drawings, architectural renderings, and specifications for new production buildings, hotel/residential developments, and recreational facilities

  • Develop cost effective, functional architectural solutions to exterior enclosures for new and existing structures

  • Prepare executive summaries for senior leadership to demonstrate design decisions that drive down project cost and schedule

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering

  • 5+ years of professional experience in architecture

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • AIA license in Texas, California and/or Florida (or ability to work towards future Texas licensure)

  • Knowledge of International Building Code (IBC)

  • Experience with plan check review departments and permit coordination

  • Ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary environment to produce functional design solutions

  • Experience with concept design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration phases of design and construction

  • Ability to develop basic building egress and fire and life safety plans

  • Ability to work autonomously and efficiently in a dynamic, fast paced design-build environment

  • Experience producing design drawings and renderings in NX, Rhino, Sketchup, Autocad or similar software

  • Ability to develop technical waterproofing and enclosure details working in close collaboration with civil construction engineers

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in both the office environment and on active construction sites
