Licensure/Certification Qualifications:
NP- Supportive and Palliative Care - Duluth, MN
The Nurse Practitioner will independently and in collaboration with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team, provide whole person care to patients diagnosed with serious illness. They will complete physical, psychosocial and spiritual health assessments and develop plans to address symptom management, goals of care and quality of life.
PRACTICE SPECIFICS:
This position is a primarily outpatient position as the Supportive and Palliative Service expands to the outpatient setting. Initially, a period with the inpatient team will be required, time will depend on level of prior experience in Supportive and Palliative Care. Current inpatient team consists of 2 MD's, 2 NP, a dedicated supportive care social worker and chaplain. There is administrative support to expand the outpatient team to a full interdisciplinary team over time. Outpatient services will begin in Essentia Health Cancer Center, but will expand to other areas over time. Position requires high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance relationships with patients, co-workers and others.
.Hours: Days with likely weekend and/or night call in as program developsIdeal Candidate will have:
3 years post graduate direct patient care experience in a clinic/hospital setting (outpatient experience preferred, Supportive and Palliative Medicine experience strongly preferred.)
ACHPN - Advanced Certified Hospice & Palliative Care Nurse Preferred
Ability to work independently, problem solve, be collaborative and team player.
Other equivalent experience in Oncology, Primary Care, Geriatrics or Hospice will be considered.
Nurse Practitioner/Clinical Nurse Specialist - QUALIFICATIONS (minimum requirements) Education and/or years' experience required:
APRN or CNS: Master's Degree in Nursing from Accredited School.
Minimum of 1-year experience in a Clinic or homebased medical setting (Supportive/Palliative Care, Oncology, Primary Care, Geriatrics, Hospice)
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Minnesota. Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or CNS in MN Approved by MN Board of Nursing for prescription writing privileges and possession of MN DEA number. Current certification in CPR. National certification, in applicable area. Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
