About the Role
The Director of Global Transportation Sourcing plays a crucial role in enabling our portfolio of brands by leading multiple transportation sourcing functions across the supply chain to deliver operational excellence, strategic solutions, and cost optimization. This leader will oversee the international transportation sourcing of product from our global network of manufacturing partners to our distribution centers as well as the outbound transportation to our customers (retail and eComm).
This role will manage internal, cross-functional relationships and oversee significant third-party supplier and vendor negotiations to ensure on-time performance of the outsourced transportation network while controlling costs. The position is critical to Gap Inc. as it partners with transportation operations to establish the strategic direction and long-term objectives for global transportation and ensures that product moves throughout the supply chain. With budget accountability that exceeds $1B in annual transportation spend, global service accountability, and oversight of strategic relationships across hundreds of external service providers - the Director of Transportation Sourcing role at Gap Inc. is highly visible and pivotal to Gap Inc's success
What You'll Do
Provide high-level guidance on sourcing strategies through strong technical/functional knowledge, in support of the business' long-term plans. Has deep understanding of key strategic sourcing functions (supplier selection, marketing intelligence, business partner management, contract management, negotiations, SRM, etc.) as well as subject matter expertise in the Parcel, Line Haul, and 3PL categories.
Develop and empower talent; coaches and develops team on both technical and soft skills
Build and strengthen strategic relationships: successfully partner across varied functions and levels with senior internal stakeholders, external suppliers, agencies, and colleagues to drive results and influence change
Drive external focus: maintain strong connections with a wide network of peers and leaders across multiple organizations and industry groups
Leverage strong financial discipline to drive controls, compliance, and transparency at the CFO level
Define category performance targets and lead team to achieve goals; hold vendors accountable to performance agreements and implement course corrections and mitigation strategies as needed
Leverage strong influencing skills to define Strategic Sourcing's role and align objectives and targets with stakeholders, including senior leadership
Act as a subject matter expert to the broader organization in the development of plans for implementation and change management for projects
Act as a change agent to drive GAP Inc. wide process, scale, and leverage opportunities
Who You Are
Business Acumen: category expertise in the following categories (Parcel, Line Haul, and 3PL)
Proven track record of developing long-term capabilities in others and across a global organization, having found enjoyment developing best-in-industry teams and sharing talent across the organization.
Significant experience leveraging business acumen, market intelligence, and insight to drive broad strategic impact across a business. Proven ability to assess and adapt to dynamic business environment
Experience leading a team and driving long-term results through category strategies, levering in-depth market knowledge, collaboration and influencing at all levels of a global organization.
Demonstrated executive presence, presentation, influencing, and collaboration across a leadership team.
Ability to effectively navigate and lead others in an ambiguous environment to achieve high levels of performance and deliver sustainable results to the organization.
Experience: 10 + years professional experience in management consulting, strategic sourcing, or supply chain
