CHEMISTRY TESTING SPECIALIST (MATERIALS ENGINEERING)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Take the lead to perform analytical testing to support alloy development, production, and failure investigations
Operate GDS, combustion, and ICP test equipment
Prepare specimens for testing using above methods
Ensure testing quality and conformance to specifications
Perform instrument calibration and maintenance to minimize production interruptions
Assist with training technicians
Work with engineers to determine suitable test methods
Manage inventory of testing consumables
Flex into mechanical testing processes as necessary
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency certificate
2+ years of experience in a chemistry testing laboratory performing metals testing
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Associate degree in chemistry/engineering, or 5+ years of experience in a chemistry testing laboratory performing hands-on metals testing
Proficient with computers, the ability to use MS Office, shop floor management software (ERP) and related programs
Experience with Leco/Spectro equipment and software
Experience with ICP, Atomic Absorption, OES/GDS, combustion testing
Familiarity with ASTM and AMS Standards
Experience in Nadcap/AS9100 environment
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed
Able to travel for short trips as needed
Able to wear appropriate PPE for chemistry laboratory environment
Able to lift up to 30 lbs. unassisted
Standing for long periods of time, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position
