SR. PROCESS SAFETY ENGINEER
As part of the SpaceX Environmental Health & Safety team, you will be the owner of all company-wide safe work processes related to the design, build, testing, and utilization of pressurized fluid and gas systems at all SpaceX sites. This position will be responsible for ensuring that safe work practices are integrated into all aspects of the SpaceX workplace.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Serve as the company's subject matter expert for safe work practices related to testing fluid and gas systems across all SpaceX sites
Review component and system designs to ensure testing and handling can be accomplished safely
Conduct on-site reviews of pressurized systems to identify and correct risks to people, operations, or property
Lead root cause investigations into significant events within the field of expertise
Implement and develop safety programs including but not limited to:
OSHA process safety management
Cryogenics storage, processing, handling
Work closely with test engineers and technician teams to perform detailed safety reviews of complex hazardous operations to ensure safe execution.
Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA, ASME, and other applicable regulatory agencies
Collaborate with EHS teams to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures related to fluid systems
Develop and implement solutions that resolve pressurized system risks
Ensure best-practices across SpaceX locations and teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of professional experience implementing safe work practices related to the design, build, and test of fluid and gas systems
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Registered Professional Engineer
Extensive knowledge of process safety management methods, pressure systems, and chemical delivery systems is highly preferred
Demonstrated ability to research and apply the best engineering practices to provide effective process safety solutions
Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying, and documenting federal, state, and local safety regulations
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
Strong organizational and communication skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to travel extensively to support process safety activities across all sites.
Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Process Safety Engineer/Senior: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
