Oversees the day-to-day processes of their respective area within the distribution center through planning and organizing the daily workload activities of 20-30 hourly associates. Responsible for opening of the building and kicking off daily production. Assigns employee daily work objectives; sets priorities on a daily basis to coordinate with changing daily needs. Reports to Operations Manager any manpower requirements. Supervises and is accountable for the employee's timely completion of daily workload activities. Drives equipment/lifts and performs hourly duties alongside direct reports to support production when short staffed. Holds daily department meetings and individual 1-1 meetings with associates. Participates in budgeting process for department needs of equipment and supplies. Completes administrative and personnel activities. Verifies employee time cards, submits vacation sheets. Recommends the hiring, promotions, and terminations of employees. Assists in the final decision-making process. Composes and conducts employee performance reviews. Discusses any performance issues with employees and works with the employee to develop a plan of resolution. Oversees the implementation and enforcement of constructive disciplinary actions. Tracks productivity and quality of area; runs appropriate reports and distributes to Operations Manager and Distribution Center management. Counsels associates on sub-standard performance. Assists in maintaining accurate inventory. Reports on shortages, overages, or non-locatable product. Ensures training of Distribution Center hourly employees on proper work behaviors to ensure efficient and effective methods of performing their assigned job responsibilities. Follows-up with employees to confirm their understanding. Schedules cross training of employees in different areas of the Distribution Center for a more flexible workforce Ensures all safety standards and procedures are adhered to.
High School diploma or equivalent. 2-3 years warehouse experience. Excellent communication and organization skills. Basic math skills. Computer literate (data entry, word processing, spreadsheets). Excellent supervisory skills (to include team building, people skills, time management, problem-solving, and prioritizing).
