Job Description

Title: LEAD CASHIER (RPT/MAIN CASH WRAP) Location: United States-Hawaii-Pearl Harbor Job Number: 22000158 Job Summary: Responsible for leading a minimum of three 3 associates engaged in the operation of cash registers to record sales in retail check out areas. Duties and Responsibilities: As a working leader is responsible for passing on to cashier checkers instructions received from supervisor and setting the pace for accomplishing cashier checker duties. Assists supervisor in determining the number of checkout counters to be in operation and provides schedules for same to provide fast and efficient patron service. Assists in the training of new associates and answers questions on procedures and other pertinent aspects of the assigned work. Insures supervisors schedules are adhered to and keeps supervisor informed regarding delays or other problem areas. May issue change funds to cashier checkers and authorize refunds and overrings as required. Performs the same work as associates led which consists of the following duties Operates a cash register according to established cash control procedures. Rings up and totals sales on the cash register accepts money and makes required change. Is responsible for maintaining own cash change fund and completes daily cash and sales report. As appropriate in retail checkout areas checks merchandise for damages ticket switching and unmarked items bags and wraps merchandise as required. May sell merchandise items located at check out points such as cigarettes and candy. May be assigned responsibility for pulling stock from back areas or stockrooms and replenishing shelves. Assists in taking inventory at required intervals and in taking periodic stock count. Informs superior of outofstock or depleted stock conditions damaged defective merchandise customer requests or complaints. Assists in keeping counter cases and shelves orderly and clean. Exercises tact good manners and courtesy when serving and assisting customers. This will be expressed by tactfully responding to patron inquiries and assisting patrons in a prompt and friendly manner. Works under the general supervision of a designated supervisor who provides instructions and assistance in carrying out assignments. Work is reviewed in terms of efficiency of operations led and adherence to prescribed instructions and procedures. Performs other related duties as assigned Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE 6 months responsible experience in clerical office or retail sales store work of any kind in which the applicant has demonstrated the ability to perform satisfactorily in the position to be filled. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE Graduation from a full 4 year or senior high school or possession of a General Education Development High School Equivalency Certificate GED may be substituted for the experience requirements.
