Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
Manages their assigned shift at the assigned campus. Ensures Security Officers are following proper policies/procedures. Assist in any Code Grays, or Codes that happen within the Hospital Campus. In charge of all Security related issues and concerns when the Security Team Lead is not on the Campus.

Essential Job Functions
Manages the shift that the Sergeant is assigned to which includes assigning security officers to the assigned posts within the campus. Ensures Officers are on duty for the assigned times. Assists in handling any Code Gray's or other Code Emergencies and provides critical thinking in the situations.
Patrols the interior and exterior of the campus to ensure staff safety, and to be alert for criminal activity. Patrols to be conducted or assigned by the Sergeant at least two times per shift.
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to respond appropriately to the age, gender, and culture of the patients served by the hospital system during or involving safety and/or security issues, incidents or accidents. Serves non-direct patient population; possible contact with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric age groups among public. Must demonstrate competence to provide psychosocial care for the following patient populations: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric
Coordinates with the Security Site Supervisor, Security Manager, and Security Director on new initiatives within the Security Department.
Ensures that all Officers respond to security related incidents, write reports on incidents, ensures security officers accurately enter all daily events that happen on shift.
Communicates any changes in the security department to assigned Security Officers when changes are made from the Security Site Supervisor, Security Manager, or Security Director.
Employment Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Preferred Education: Associates Degree
Specialty/Major: Criminal Justice
Licensure/Certification Required:
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Basic & Advanced IAHSS Certification required after three months from hire date.
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years of Security experience. Healthcare Security Officers/Supervisors preferred.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: Basic computer skills, communication skills.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: De-escalation skills (Welle, CPI),

The individual performing this job may reasonably anticipate coming into contact with human blood and other potentially infectious materials. Individuals in this position are required to exercise universal precautions, use personal protective equipment and devices, and learn the policies concerning infection control.
Works in a normal office environment where there is no physical discomfort due to dust, dirt, noise and the like.
Works in a patient care area where there is little exposure to dust, dirt, noise and the like.
Travels outside the office in all weather conditions and potential of working in vehicle traffic
Works in an area where there is potential radiation exposure, but is monitored by radiation badges.
