PERMIT COORDINATOR (SPACEPORT DEVELOPMENT)

The Permit Coordinator role is designed to assist with day-to-day company operations related to the permitting. This position involves supporting projects in administrative duties, organizing, tracking, applying for and obtaining permits from governing agencies such as the Cameron County Building Department and TXDOT for engineering, construction, installation and engineering design projects. This role also involves considerable internal coordination amongst various design and construction teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Own permitting of various residential and commercial building projects across site

  • Prepare and submit permit package with necessary supplementary drawings and documentations to obtain final seal of occupancy

  • This position requires forming, maintaining relationships and coordinating with the county building department, health department, fire marshal and engineering department

  • This position involves supporting residential and commercial projects in administrative duties, organizing, tracking, applying for and obtaining permits from Cameron County or Texas Department of Transportation for construction installation and engineering design projects

  • Review of plans and specifications to ensure records are up to date

  • Assist in correcting violations through communications with SpaceX legal team and county

  • This role also involves considerable internal coordination amongst various build teams

  • This role requires applicant to have technical understanding of wide range of different construction projects

  • Coordinate permit requests and scheduling with various third-party inspections as warranted

  • Meet with internal teams and/or government agencies for project updates, and assist with any issues

  • Coordinate with project managers regarding construction schedules and permit requirements

  • Manage permit expirations and renewals

  • Organize and track all permits

  • Coordinate insurance certificates for particular projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or related to regulatory affairs

  • Experience with permitting

  • Experience in an administrative role in the construction or government sectors

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word)

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Proactive and have the ability to work independently

  • Able to maintain a high level of accuracy and pay close attention to detail

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be willing to travel to county and state offices

  • Must be able to conduct field walk-throughs with county officials on project inspections

  • Must be willing to work overtime and holidays as needed

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:
