We are seeking a principal enterprise architect who focuses on developing and championing enterprise-wide strategies and patterns to inspire and enable connections in our Customer, Retail, and Partner spaces.

As a principal enterprise architect within Starbucks Technology you lead the architecture development for global IT solutions for multiple domains. Principal architects are the senior EA leaders for their respective capability areas and are accountable for the conversion of business strategies into technology designs. As a senior member of the architecture community you will lead the development of best practices, process improvement, and champion architecture principles for all of Starbucks global IT operations.

In this role, you will...

  • Work closely with a variety of teams to develop technology strategies, architectural blueprints, roadmaps, and perspectives throughout Starbucks

  • Guide other architects in devising meaningful ways to improve Starbucks business through shared roadmaps, technologies, and partnerships

  • Advise cross-functional leaders in defining priorities, key initiatives, and organizational alignment to inform and supporting business decisions

  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and software that enhance the Starbucks experience for Customers and Partners

  • Inspire and guide strategic direction of technologies through active product and program engagement

  • Develop, advocate, and manage principles, practices, patterns, and appropriate governance to help infuse new technologies and advanced analytics being deployed

  • Identify and share architectural interdependencies between programs across the enterprise

  • Assist in developing proposals for enterprise technology strategies based on environmental analysis, opportunity identification, value, and risk

  • Enable the understanding and adoption of the technology architectures with product and service teams

  • Lead in shaping technology of programs spanning multiple businesses in the enterprise to promote strategic technology transformation

Education, Training, & Experience

  • 10 or more years of IT experience

  • 7 or more years of department level (or greater) process design, technical proofs of concept, and/or solution design experience involving multiple technologies

  • At least five years of architecture or enterprise level analytical experiences

  • At least three years participating in departmental (or greater) strategic technology planning
