This position leads a team of seasoned competitive intelligence professionals and serves as the expert on all major competitors across the telecom ecosystem, primarily focusing on wireless but including other adjacent areas within telecom such as cable and broadband. This team is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and communicating intelligence about changes to competitors' consumer and business-facing activities including device/service pricing & promotions, new product launches, media tactics, distribution, and brand strategy. This person will synthesize and interpret this competitive intelligence and market research in the context of telecom market dynamics to quickly develop strategic insights, evaluate competitive options, and generate actionable recommendations to our senior leadership team.

What you'll do in your role.
Lead a team of 5 competitive intelligence professionals spanning several areas of focus including wireless, broadband, and video
Oversee and continually manage our portfolio of competitive intelligence and secondary research sources to ensure a comprehensive view of market intelligence and dynamics
Combine industry dynamics, business performance, and market research to develop hypotheses on future market dynamics a strategic point of view to drive decision-making
Develop regular market intelligence reports for senior management and provide education and dissemination of market information for key stakeholders
Deliver insights to executive leadership to prepare for external and internal communications, including the Board of Directors meetings, Analyst presentations, and Earnings materials
Conduct deep analyses of competitor offerings and strategies to maintain an expert understanding of their pricing, products, channels, and brand positioning
Ensure veracity of T-Mobile's competitive claims and participate in the development of new claims that will improve our competitive positioning in the minds of consumers and businesses
Serve as a thought leader and trusted consultant while influencing decisions at the highest levels of the company
Develop and coach CI professionals to ensure each member acquires appropriate skills and project-based experiences to foster ongoing, professional development
The experience you'll bring.
10 + years competitive or market research experience
10 + years using syndicated research in an analyst, planning, or product management function with demonstrated ability to research specific topics and deliver insights that answer or address specific business or customer questions
Experience partnering with internal stakeholders (including senior Management) and outside vendors in understanding needs and driving knowledge/insights through the organization
Ability to independently produce executive communications at a high level and utilize storytelling to portray the holistic view of research findings and implications, and implement, modify, or reject strategies
Ability to strongly and consultatively communicate research insights and implications to influence and drive business decision-making
Passion for synthesizing market intelligence to construct a strategic vision of the future
Experience working in a demanding, fast-paced environment
Strong business acumen with strategic thinking and a natural curiosity to delve further
Strong financial and analytical skills to enable solid business judgement
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
Education
BS/BA, Masters/Advanced Degree strongly preferred
At least 18 years of age
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School Diploma or GED
T-Mobile requires all employees in this position to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 prior to starting work, unless precluded from doing so by applicable law.
