Your main responsibility will be guiding and supporting elite teams in product development, analytics, and creative to identify, define, and deliver SEO strategies to improve organic rankings and traffic. You will lead and drive multiple teams in the research and design of solutions to seize opportunities to improve our organic rankings and traffic through crawling & indexation, internal linking structure, content uniqueness and quality and more. You will also collaborate with other SEO managers and strategists on multiple projects to grow and improve our helpful and engaging customer facing content, earn organic links, and large-scale, quick paced SEO testing.
What you will do - Essential Responsibilities
. Vision: Leveraging deep experience and expertise in reading Google's SEO environment, SEO competitors and as well as our proprietary analytics to have a clear 6-12-month vision of the direction our SEO program should go to achieve our long-term goals.
. Strategy Development
o Owns SEO strategy and planning for a large section of our website and/or one area of expertise, e.g., technical, content, UX, etc.
o Proactively identifies new projects and influence backlog and prioritization for their assigned product and/or creative teams.
o Collaborates with other SEO Managers on leading the SEO execution to achieve quarterly objectives and key results goals.
. Team Leadership: Manages cross-functional program resources to achieve program objectives (could include Analyst, Product Manager, Web Designer, Content Strategist, Project Manager, etc.)
. SEO Strategy Execution & Optimization: Drive execution to ensure teams are working on the projects that will accomplish SEO's goals. Collaborates to ensure accurate and timely execution across cross functional resources.
. Stakeholder Management: This role will also often act as the point person for a variety of stakeholders outside of the team. Therefore, they will need to be able to independently build and manage relationships with multiple Sr. Department stakeholders from product development, creative, analytics, technology and more with minimal oversite.
. Associate Development: While this role may or may not have direct reports, we expect all of our team members to care about the development of their cross-functional teammates and deliver timely feedback, encourage their growth.
Purpose of the role
As an SEO Manager, you have a critical role within the CarMax SEO team, helping to define strategy and dictate pace for a key marketing channel that contributes significant revenue and sales growth. Successful candidates display a high level of intellectual curiosity, combined with a good amount of SEO
experience with large e-commerce websites. Tasks like digging through crawl data, web logs, SERP (Search Engine Results Page) and competitor Analysis, as well as performing SEO audits to find technical and programmatic SEO opportunities are familiar tasks/activities that naturally increase your engagement. Qualifications and Requirements
Required
. 5+ years of experience in similar roles
. 3 to 5 years of in-house SEO team experience with large e-Comm consumer brands
. Proven experience with identifying SEO opportunities in large dynamic websites
. Comfort working with product managers and developers leads on maintaining, sizing, and prioritizing an SEO backlog
. Experience with leading SEO groups on designing solutions, prioritizing, implementing, and tracking results of SEO optimizations (SEO campaign management)
. Experience in communicating complex SEO ideas to audiences that do not have a deep technical SEO knowledge
. Experience with Botify, Deepcrawl, BrightEdge, STAT or Conductor or similar Enterprise level SEO software suites
. Internal Candidates: completion of MDP (Management Development Program)
