Overview
The Vice President of FInance & Business Systems plays a pivotal role in the forecasting, financial planning, analysis and reporting functions of the organization's labor plans, prime cost management, and goal setting for organization's bonuses. Is also responsible for the information technology support for business systems used by the operations and field teams.
Responsibility
- Serves as a critical strategic resource to the key functional areas of the organization.
- Develops and presents a course of action for exploring new business opportunities, increases levels of business acumen throughout the organization when it comes to labor and raises levels of anticipation and awareness.
- Coordinates and presents regular monthly forecasts for Maple Street, including understanding complexities and interdependencies of information, high levels of anticipation, critical events, trends and timely identification of risks & opportunities.
- Collaborates with various levels of management to acquire and develop reasonable, accurate projections of goals and key success drivers of short and long term sales & profitability.
- Responsible for innovative approaches and improvements to methodologies, procedures and systems related to financial planning, forecasting, analysis, investment modeling, reporting of key information for decision making and recommendations for similar improvements throughout the organization.
- Provides superior quantitative and qualitative problem solving recommendations, while handling multiple high profile projects concurrently.
- Develops and refines financial models for strategic initiatives, including labor, prime costs (food & labor). Works with the Operations team in quantifying assumptions for labor productivity and modeling.
- Leads and directs the products and technologies used by the field to ensure effectiveness and ROI (includes programs such as Food cost/inventory software, POS systems, and 3rd party products as an example).
- Collaborates with partners at the parent company for forecasting, bonus, and applicable audit and accounting needs.
- Helps guide the direction of the brand in partnership with the Executive team.
Qualifications
Experience and Education
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, accounting or related field and 10 years restaurant financial analysis experience in a managerial position; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Master's degree preferred
Certifications
- CPA or equivalent preferred
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong knowledge of restaurant/retail industry, operations and trends.
- Thorough knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Thorough knowledge of financial analyses including projecting, forecasting and budgeting planning.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with experience in presenting & communicating at the executive level
- Ability to influence across various levels of organization and across multiple functional teams
- Proven track record of teaching & developing talent
- Intellectual curiosity & results-driven nature
