Position summary
JMT is on the lookout for a dynamic and skilled Technical Writer with a keen interest in storytelling, to craft compelling narratives around our projects. This role is not only about creating accurate and concise technical documentation but also about capturing the essence of our projects to share their impact through website and intranet stories, whitepapers, and social media content. The successful candidate will bridge the gap between technical jargon and engaging storytelling, showcasing the work we do in a manner that resonates with a broader audience.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Craft compelling narratives around our projects, transforming complex information into engaging stories suitable for platforms such as our website, intranet, whitepapers, and social media.
Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and marketing teams to identify and highlight project successes, innovations, and the societal impact of our work.
Ensure all project stories and technical documentation are clear, well-written, and tailored to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Edit and proofread content to maintain high standards of clarity, grammar, and accuracy.
Manage documentation and storytelling projects from inception to publication, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality content.
Stay abreast of industry trends, content creation tools, and best practices in technical writing and storytelling.
Required Skills
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a proven track record of working effectively with cross-functional teams.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in an engaging manner.
Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in technical communication, English, journalism, engineering, or a related field, with a strong portfolio of writing samples.
Proven experience in technical writing, with a flair for storytelling and content creation for external media.
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts in an engaging manner.
Proficiency in content creation tools and software, such as Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and content management systems.
Must provide samples of capabilities as they pertain to the responsibilities listed in this position description.
Ability to travel minimally.
Qualifications Preferred
Familiarity with the architecture/engineering/construction industry.
Thorough knowledge of commonly used style guides.
Working Conditions
Work may be performed on a hybrid schedule - a combination of office and remote work. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.
