Job Summary

Dominion Energy's Mt. Storm Power Station in Mt Storm, WV is seeking a qualified applicants to work in our coal yard as an Operating Helper.

The responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Operate coal and ash handling equipment to include but not limited to activities such as set/remove derailers, set/operate hand brakes and overhead chain valves, unload train cars, squat/climb and navigate train cars.

  • General cleaning duties utilizing shovels and brooms to maintain cleanliness of work areas, utilize air lances to clean out chutes (overhead and crouched work).

  • Walk down equipment and belts, maintain equipment by performing weekly inspection PM's along with lube oil PM's.

  • Develop and perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) using -Eclipse- tagging software and program.

  • Maintain and cut station grass in designated areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

The Operating Helper works a 12-hour rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Starting pay is $25.51 per hour. This position does not pay relocation costs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience

  • 0-2 years of general maintenance and/or operations experience or 0-2 years of outdoor labor and/or rail-yard experience

  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED

  • Suitable candidate should be willing and able to work in outside ambient hot/cold temperatures, able to utilize proper PPE including half face and full face respirators to work around fly ash, coal dust and solvents

  • Successful candidate should be able to work 12 hour rotating shift, including days, nights, weekends and holidays. Must have availability to work overtime

  • Good physical ability and agility. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds

  • The job requires an incumbent to stand, sit, walk, carry, bend, crawl, reach, squat, climb (ladders, poles, stairs), and to push/pull with arms, legs and body 75%-100% of the time

Note: A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or more rounds to one full year of qualifications.

The company is actively seeking United States military veterans and service members who meet the qualifications.

Military service members and veterans with ranks from E3-E5, W1-W2, or O1-O3, plus appropriate equivalent combination of education and years of experience as outlined.
