The Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering and Test (COMET) contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.
Work as an Mechanical Engineer- Main Propulsion supporting the COMET contract on the Kennedy Space Center. Perform engineering tasks in support of the Main Propulsion Systems/Engines engineering group.
-Candidate will perform engineering work in preparation for assembly, test, processing, and launch of NASA's Space Launch System in support of the Artemis program.
-Conduct system tests, collect and analyze data on equipment performance. Troubleshoot equipment/system anomalies.
-Initial assignments will focus on development of Work Authorization Documents to process, test and launch the SLS Rocket.
-Candidates will be required to apply knowledge of technical principles, vehicle processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, and vehicle/ground system design and operation. Additional responsibilities in system training, vehicle processing, and launch certification will follow.
-Candidate will be expected to accomplish testing & operations independently, and act as Task Team Leader for assignments involving Main Propulsion Systems and Engines.
-Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
-Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution; at least four years of experience.
May be filled at a higher lever based on qualifications
- Strong mechanical background is required due to the mechanical aspects of the flight hardware, flight support equipment, and ground support equipment.
- Software development and control system knowledge is desirable for the Ground and Flight Application Software (GFAS) that monitors and controls the hypergolic system hardware.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively in a team environment with clear, concise, and accurate verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent customer interface skills required.
- Analytical and problem solving skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office or comparable application, publication and graphics applications is desired.
- Capable of reading/understanding technical manuals, drawings and schematics.
- Ability to plan, manage and prioritize multiple projects.
- Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and outlook.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
Physical Requirements
Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.
Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, is required to access various locations on the facility.
Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

Attendance
Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday.
Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.
Must be dependable and punctual.
Shift work may be required.

Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
