Job Description

We are looking for a Logistics Manager to join our team! This position will be expected to work on Trade Compliance, Export Control to meet both legal and financial requirements for the movement of goods internationally. Develop and provide regular reporting and status updates on logistic activities to senior leadership and customers. Ensure required actions are performed in Volcom's ERP systems to facilitate job function Identify issues and to refine key performance indicators to measure operational performance and process compliance

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Monitor changes to US customs regulations and keep management appraised of any issues and recommendations to ensure compliance

  • Monitor customs regulations application in other countries as relevant to global operation and advise the business accordingly. Analyze, monitor, and communicate pertinent policy changes to US/foreign customs regulations and US export controls laws that may impact business operations

  • Support and lead import and export trade management initiatives that focus on minimizing risk, improving efficiency, and reducing costs

  • Maintain global compliance policies and procedures and ensure compliance including internal control testing. Conduct post entry audits to ensure compliance

  • Ensure full compliance and timely resolution for the assignment of HTS classifications for import and export shipments

  • Evaluate import/export compliance requirements such as classification Schedule B, Export Classification Number (ECCN)

  • Partner with trade compliance partners (i.e., customs brokers) to resolve shipment delays, initiate corrective action, and develop procedures to prevent a recurrence. Develop and manage best practices

  • Manage approved brokers to ensure they comply with instructions provided to clear shipments

  • Assist internal functions with import/export guidance and preparation of trade documentation (i.e., commercial invoice, packing list, technical product information) for the international shipment via carriers and freight forwarders

  • Assist functional leads with investigating trade risk events to include exposure analysis, risk remediation, and development of mitigation controls

  • Maintain record-keeping program as required by CBP & other regulatory agencies

  • Work closely with Finance to oversee activities automated clearing house (ACH) debit/refund program

  • Monitor and analyze tariff impacts for Sec 301 & Sec 232 and any future trade actions

  • Support Duty Drawback program, entry reconciliation, post-importation programs such as Post Summary Corrections (PSC) and Protests

  • Implement potential duty cost savings, including but not limited to Free Trade Agreements (FTA), Miscellaneous Tariff Bills (MTB), and Sec 301 product exclusions. Evaluate imports pertaining to prototype, Quality or testing to ensure proper primary HTS codes are utilized

  • Understand compliance/regulations and adhere to the legal requirements of the import/export countries, tariffs, and customs; remain up to date on all current legal requirements

  • Carrier Relationship management for ocean carriers, freight forwarders, 3PLs, ports, and terminals

  • Manage Global carrier and freight forwarder negotiation, contracts, quality impact, service and relationships. Objectively challenge current practices to stimulate alternative thinking

  • Develop appropriate metrics and manage KPI's associated with logistics activity

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Licensed Customs Broker a plus but not required

  • 5+ years extensive experience with trade compliance, including country of origin & tariff classification determination, and Customs Assists reporting

  • Thorough knowledge of Imports, Exports, Customs Brokerage, WCO HS classification, and US ECCN product classification

  • Strong understanding of Customs entry filing process

  • Familiarity with US trade laws for import (Customs Border Protection)

  • Familiarity with Duty Drawback Program

  • Expertise in core global transportation modes: Air, Ocean (LCL/FCL)

  • Organized, detail-oriented, accurate, thorough, and maintains accurate records

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
