DIRECTOR, SUPPLY CHAIN RELIABILITY
Supply Chain is vital to reaching SpaceX's goals in the production and launch of SpaceX's Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy rockets, Dragon spacecraft, Starship, and future vehicles. We are seeking a highly motivated and achievement-oriented leader to own Supply Chain Reliability. In this role you will lead a team that works closely with SpaceX internal teams, suppliers, and customers to assess, develop, and align quality system, documentation and technical requirements. You will lead the continuous development and improvement of those internal SpaceX quality and reliability systems for Supply Chain. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of leading medium to large teams, managing complex operations, and fostering productive working relationships across the company.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy - Understand the needs of the business and develop strategy, business metrics, and goals to guide the organization in the direction needed. Develop existing and future state process flows, present ideas, project details, and status to executive management
Leadership - Manage a multi-level deep organization, consisting of people managers and individual contributors: assess employee performance, provide feedback, facilitate conflict resolution, and address any issues with appropriate disciplinary action. Lead cross-functional groups to identify, prioritize, and see projects to completion; take responsibility for the success and sustainability of actions. Lead by setting an example, taking feedback from all levels of the organization and motivating your organization to achieve the highest level of results
Safety - Monitor and improve operations, ensuring a safe work environment with the goal of zero OSHA recordables
Quality and Risk Management - Ensure business practices drive proactive risk identification and mitigation; guarantee product quality and comply with AS9100 and customer flow-downs
Customer Service - Manage operations that provide industry leading levels of customer service in all operations, recognizing the needs of the business and adapting to support our mission
Process Improvement - Drive projects and changes needed to ensure the Supply Chain organization can scale efficiently. Pull and transform data to understand and communicate current activities and build a business case for improvement efforts. Work with stakeholders to develop requirements for any necessary enterprise system changes
Mentorship - Actively monitor and develop the team, ensuring team members are challenged and performing at the expected standards. Develop and train direct reports to enable ownership and empowered decision making
Adaptability - As SpaceX continues to innovate and pave the way for future development, this leader needs to be able to adapt and lead the team through the ever-changing needs of the organization
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or science
7+ years of experience in production, engineering, or supply chain management
3+ years of experience in managing/leading a team which includes people leaders
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
MBA and/or Master of Science degree in a related engineering or scientific field
Excellent written, oral, and presentation skills
Organized and self-driven, capable of working independently with little direction
Expert level knowledge in one or more commodities within the teams' scope, e.g., machining, sheet metal, composites, raw materials, and special processes
Expert level knowledge of supplier quality processes (Production Part Approval Process, Advanced Product Quality Planning, First Article Inspection Reports, etc.)
Experience with quality systems (ISO 9000/TS/AS9100)
Demonstrated track record of thinking big and aligning teams and organizations behind a goal and executing with sustained results
Excellent communication and team-building skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced /cross-functional environment while maintaining on-time project completion, deal with a wide variety of challenges, and work with a diverse array of contacts
Capable of adapting to abrupt changes in strategy
Experience within an aerospace, aviation, or automotive manufacturing environment
Previous experience with capital planning and management
Innovative and futuristic thinking to drive continuous improvement
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to travel up to 25%
Valid driver's license
