For nearly two decades, the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL) has been at the forefront of innovation, crafting cutting-edge cyber solutions for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC). Our mission: to empower our nation's heroes with game-changing Information Operations (IO) and Computer Network Operations (CNO) technologies that tackle some of the toughest challenges head-on.
We are seeking a Research Intern to be based out of Arlington, VA. Once selected to join our team, you'll have the privilege of becoming a vital member of our world-class team, composed of applied researchers and engineers who contribute to projects that redefine the cutting edge of customer and internally funded R&D. Basic Qualifications:
Pursing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in technical fields of study such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Security or related field.
Eligible for Top-Secret clearance
Prospective team members for this job posting must have skills in one or more of the following:
- Demonstrated skills in user-space or kernel-space development
- C, C++, Python software development
- Networking protocols and socket application development
- Debugging (e.g gdb, windbg, OllyDbg, Valgrind)
- Guided technical research explorations
Desired Skills:
Developing cyber capabilities requires a broad spectrum of experience. While we do not anticipate that everyone will have skill and expertise in all related technical areas, we do desire that team mates have some experience in one or more of the areas listed below. If you do not have experience in these areas, you will be assessed for your ability to develop these skills:
- Applied research skills
- Embedded systems development
- Compiler Design and Implementation
- Machine-learning/Artificial Intelligence
- Static and dynamic reverse engineering on x86/x86_64, MIPS, ARM, or PowerPC
- Vulnerability Analysis of source code or binaries
- IDS and PSP Design and Implementation
- Cyber/IO/CNO R&D
- Current Top-Secret clearance
If you have demonstrated a passion for cyber technologies, are self-motivation, and adept at research and prototype development, you will excel as a part of our team.
As a part of our team, you can anticipate presenting results and demonstrating prototypes to your teammates and program customers.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
