The Pre-K Lead Teacher will play an integral role in the success of our center by serving as a positive role model as well as creating meaningful relationships and being a supportive resource for our students, families and their team.

  • Bachelor's degree; If you hold a bachelors not related to Early Childhood education you must also hold one of the following approved ECE credentials:

    *Associate degree with ECE major *Technical College Diploma (TCD) with ECE major *Technical Certificate of Credit (TCC) with ECE major
  • Montessori Diploma (Montessori courses must be taken from an accredited affiliate of the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education [MACTE])

  • Lead Teacher Credential Waivers: If you do not hold one of the above-mentioned credentials, you may still be eligible if you meet the following:

    *The candidate must be registered in GaPDS. *Four year degree in a non-ECE field and is enrolled in a program to obtain an Associate degree/Technical College Diploma/Technical College Certificate in ECE or is enrolled in a Preschool CDA program *Associate degree in ECE and is enrolled in a program to earn a four year degree in ECE
  • Knowledge of GA Pre-K requirements, and GA Dept. of Early Care and Learning Requirements

  • Ability to determine and prioritize demanding workload while being flexible to emergent/unplanned needs and situations

  • Knowledge of, and experience with, group dynamics, facilitation and collaboration.

  • Ability to interpret, apply, and audit various policies, procedures, and regulations

  • Ability to exercise tact and discretion in all staff, child and family interactions

  • Ability to handle highly stressful and sensitive situations in a professional manner

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Manage classroom activities while ensuring compliance with GA Dept of Early Care and Learning and the goals and objectives of the current GA Pre-K curriculum

  • Build and maintain a positive, nurturing, and supportive relationship with the children and families.

  • Plan and implement learning experiences that address physical health and development, social and emotional development, approaches to learning, logic and reasoning, language, literacy, mathematics, science, creative arts expression, and social studies.

  • Conduct ongoing assessment of the growth and development of assigned children to inform instruction and measure progress toward goals; plan individualized learning activities to meet specific needs of children including children with disabilities.

  • Arrange for children to be outdoors each and every day, weather permitting. The outdoor classroom is considered an extension of the learning environment. Both indoor and outdoor environments shall address curricular objectives by encouraging child-initiated, teacher-supported, active learning experiences.

  • Follow health and safety procedures for hand washing, toileting, handling bodily fluids, sanitizing toys and equipment, administering medication, serving food, dealing with children's illnesses, and supervising children.

  • Complete timely, neat, accurate documentation of screenings, assessments, individualized plans, attendance, feedings, daily activity logs for parents and other documentation as may be deemed necessary for providing quality services.
