JMT is seeking Inspectors to join their Kentucky Construction Management Team. Successful candidates will apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety and conformance to plans, specifications and codes. Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Work on various roadway and bridge projects within the region's geographic area

  • Oversight of contractor's quality control operations

  • Quality Assurance sampling and testing

  • Completion of Daily Sampling and Testing Reports

  • Daily communication with client, contractor, and field project personnel

  • Use survey instruments, metering devices, tape measures, and test equipment such as nuclear density gauges, air meters, and slump cones to perform inspections

  • Compute estimates of work completed or of needed renovations or upgrades and approve payment for contractors

  • Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance to legal requirements and safety regulations.

  • Performs routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials

  • Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance to plans and codes.

  • Gathers and maintains record documents

  • Makes field notes and computations

Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required SkillsRequired Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)

  • Active driver's license

Preferred Experience

  • ACI Level I

  • Aggregate Sampling Technician

  • Asphalt Field Technician

  • Structural Inspection Level I

  • Grade and Drain Level I

  • KEPSC-RI

  • Construction inspection experience, preferably KYTC related

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively perform bending, kneeling, standing, shoveling, and lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Willingness to work weekends and/or nights as required on assigned projects.
