This is a Collective Bargaining Unit Position.
The RN provides patient care and handles intake and discharge processes for the Wound Center patients as scheduled. The position also serves as a Case Manager to a group of Wound Center patients, as assigned. The applicant must be flexible with hours and days based on department schedule and patient demand in area of need.
Essential Job Functions
Provides patient care to Wound Center patients and handles patient intake and discharge processes as assigned
Provides wound care treatment in a safe manner consistent with the State of Ohio Nursing Practice Act and Mercy Health policies and procedures, to provide quality care, promoting positive communications and teamwork.
Requires critical thinking, effective communication skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Customer service skills: adaptability, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and follow through, safety and security focus, computer proficiency, technical/functional knowledge, problem solving abilities, sound judgement, sound patient care skills, good written and oral communication skills
Provides wound treatments and participates in the education and teaching of patients/families/caregivers.
Will serve as a Case Manager to a group of patients assigned.
Performing the initial nursing assessment, communication findings with the assigned physician, assessing the wound stage and measurements, documenting care plans, evaluating the patient status in regard to desired outcomes, and identifying patient care situations that require intervention.
Collaborates as needed with other healthcare providers, Wound Center providers, Clinical Coordinator and Medical Directors regarding clinic and patient needs.
Lifts, ambulates, and transports patients using appropriate techniques and equipment.
Cross train to cover hyperbaric medicine as needed.
Accompanies and assists physicians with various procedures
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education Qualifications
Required Minimum Education: Associate Degree (ADN)
Preferred Education: Bachelor of Science (BSN)
Licensure/Certification Required: BLS, must have a current registration and licensure in the State of Ohio
Licensure/Certification Preferred: Wound Care Certification
Minimum Years and Type of Experience: 2 years in acute care, Home Health setting
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 2-3 years recent Wound Care experience in the inpatient/outpatient setting / Wound Center.
Full-Time - 32 Scheduled weekly hours.
