Please review the following job description:

Reporting directly to the Chief Regulatory Relations Officer (CRRO), the Head of Regulatory Relations Governance manages and develops the program governance elements, including policies, procedures, and training. In addition to helping drive Truist and the CRRO's vision for an effective and well controlled program, the role also supports the development and implementation of overall strategy, including coordination with other stakeholders within the bank on policy and applicable matters.

Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.

  1. Develop and maintain program governance standards, such as policies, procedures, and templates, to ensure consistent approaches are implemented across the bank.

  2. Identify and drive targeted training to support effective and well controlled regulatory interactions, including being a resource to business and support functions in preparation for exams.

  3. Assist the CRRO in identifying trends arising across examinations as well as evaluating which examinations require enhanced internal support.

  4. Conduct postmortem assessments with relevant business or support functions post examinations to drive process improvements.

  5. Serve as a regulatory resource to business lines and control functions including providing perspective on potential drivers for an examination and related guidance or sections of the handbook to better focus responses.

  6. Scan supervisory and regulatory developments and support thought leadership and adjustments in training or other program elements as needed.

  7. Assist the CRRO in managing and developing overall strategic outreach program, including supporting agenda development and participant selection.

  8. Coordinate closely with the Head of Regulatory Relations Exam Management and serve as a backup to either the CRRO or Head of Regulatory Relations Exam Management as needed.

  9. Support training initiatives to continue to drive career growth and knowledge within the Regulatory Relations function.

  10. Drive excellence in support to lines of business and other internal stakeholders on regulatory related matters.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  1. Bachelor's degree in related field.

  2. Minimum of fifteen years financial services experience within risk (1st or 2nd LOD), internal audit, and/or regulatory.

  3. Six to eight years of direct experience either as a bank examiner (FRB/FDIC/OCC/CFPB/state) or working in a regulatory relations function or high-regulatory contact area at larger financial institutions.

  4. Strong communications (verbal and writing) skills. Experience and ability to interact with senior leaders at Truist and regulatory agencies.

  5. Ability to operate in an agile manner to ensure both external and internal stakeholder demands are met in a timely and accurate manner.

  6. Experience operating on a need-to-know basis, including the handling of confidential supervisory material and other sensitive documents.

  7. Knowledgeable about current regulatory expectations for Category III banks. College degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Graduate Degree and / or advanced certifications.

  2. Prior experience with large financial institutions either as an employee, consultant, or bank examiner.

  3. Prior management/leadership experience with small high-performing team. 4. Knowledge of evolving supervisory expectations.
