Job Summary
This intern position will be responsible for assisting the Design Engineering organization in the planning, development, and implementation of projects on the gas distribution systems. This will provide a unique opportunity to learn about gas engineering design fundamentals and the pipeline safety regulations associated with designing, operating and maintaining gas distributions systems. The candidate will also gain insight on day-to-day workings of professional engineers within the Design Engineering department.
Location(s) of Internship: Salt Lake City, Utah.
*NOTE: Dominion Energy provides summer relocation assistance to interns whose permanent address is greater than 50 miles from their work location. Interns may not collect the housing stipend and drive to work from their permanent residence
Intern Responsibilities:
- Work within the Design Engineering department in providing engineering support of the Design Engineering department
- Assist in the development of calculations, drawings, and plan sets for the construction of gas distribution facilities (including mains, meter sets and regulator stations)
- Utilize hydraulic modeling software to assist in the analysis of system modifications or expansions.
- Assist in the planning and management of ongoing and upcoming construction projects including tracking permit and material status
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Experience
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, who is a rising sophomore or junior.
- Minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA
- Good written and verbal communication skills; strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Work, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Possess strong data analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in gaining experience and knowledge of pipeline integrity as it pertains to the natural gas industry
- Clean driving record and can drive company-owned vehicles to field locations.
- You must be available to participate in the entire 10-12 weeks of the program.
Preferred majors: Industrial, Mechanical, Civil, Structural, or Electrical Engineering; Engineering Mechanics, Construction Management, or other related majors.
