Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for providing leadership and direction to deliver optimized services and support for assigned functions. Role is accountable for leading an Application Development team that manage a portfolio of IT projects and services in various areas of the business including Building Phone applications, Equipment Services, Back Office/Operations applications to name a few of the areas.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Maintain current understanding of emerging technologies aligned to business needs.

  2. Partner with key stakeholders to develop the roadmap for areas of responsibility, identify and recommend new solutions to meet priority business needs.

  3. Identify long and short-range projects/plans to drive improvements in areas of assigned responsibility; partner with IT leadership to align on key strategies and priorities.

  4. Drive lifecycle management of solutions from selection to implementation to currency upgrades and/or sunset/termination.

  5. Drive projects and goals/objectives ensuring quality and timely delivery within approved budget.

  6. Provide clear communication on approach, status, issues and risks on a regular basis to manage stakeholder expectations.

  7. Develop relationships with key vendors and create cost-efficient and support development of comprehensive contracts that protect the company.

  8. Provide stable, available and operationally effective services and solutions.

  9. Seek customer feedback regularly to ensure services and support are efficient and effective; surface and identify repeat problems or service challenges. Craft and drive improvement plans to close gaps.

  10. Drive the growth, development and overall performance improvement of the department.

  11. Lead and grow a high-performance team by selecting high potential talent, training, coaching and providing developmental assignments.

  12. Participate in annual financial budgeting/planning processes.

  13. Manage actuals to budget and timely communication of budget exceptions and assist with development of plans to close gaps.

  14. Human resource management including interviewing, hiring new employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; career development.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor's degree.

  2. Five (5) to ten (10) years IT related experience; demonstrated leadership (team lead, project management, etc.).

  3. Experience managing complex projects.

  4. Specific technology, solution and process expertise.

  5. Experience with cloud solutions and managed services.

  6. IT vendor management experience.

  7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Experience/knowledge of a Transportation company.

  2. Experience with integrated systems and applications.

  3. Agile development experience.

  4. Ability to travel up to 5% of the time, if needed.

  5. Specific technology certifications (based on manager role).

  6. Experience managing teams of ten (10) to twenty (20) or more IT resources.

  7. Freight and Logistics industry experience.

  8. MBA or advanced degree in related field.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The position requires the ability to spend long hours sitting or standing while using office equipment and computers. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
