Overview

The Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program Director is responsible for the administration, planning, implementation, overall development, management, supervision, and evaluation of the DMS program. This includes supervision of faculty and students. The position is a full-time position. The Director does not have a teaching assignment but may fill in for faculty during absences or staffing shortages. The program director is responsible for the structure as well as the daily operation of the program, including organization, administration, periodic review and evaluation, continued development, and general effectiveness of program curricula. The responsibilities of the program director must not be adversely affected by educationally unrelated functions. Primary Responsibilities: - Advertise, interview, and select faculty who are qualified and contribute to the program and student outcomes. - Coordinate the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of the DMS program curriculum. - Ensure a schedule of regular visits to all clinical affiliates/clinical education centers is maintained - Provide evaluation, development and feedback to the program on course materials, current changes in practice, standards of practice, and student accomplishment of course and program outcomes. - Coordinate with Vice President all correspondence between accrediting and licensing bodies. Prepare reports necessary for continued approval or accreditation of the program. - Oversee the admission, academic progression and graduation of students.

- Supervise and evaluate program faculty including in class reviews of each faculty member. Approve teaching schedules of faculty.

- Evaluate textbooks, reference books and other teaching materials. - Orient new faculty to policies and procedures of the University and the DMS department; conduct faculty meetings. - Participate in Advisory Board meetings. - Assist with Student Services such as selection, participation in graduation ceremonies. - Provide support in administering the program budget. - Maintain and encourage professional development through workshops, conferences and training.

Qualifications

Education/Experience: - Proficiency in curriculum development. - Current, unencumbered ARDMS certification. - The equivalent of two years full-time clinical experience as a general sonographer, cardiac sonographer, and/or vascular technologist. - A bachelor's degree required in the field or related field. - Prior teaching experience preferred.
