THE TEAM

Core Data Services team is at the center of Data and Analytics initiative. We are in the beginning of our journey to build and enterprise data platform capable to be a true underpinning of any data needs for the enterprise. Our mission is to make reliable data available and enable value creation by the data community of engineers, analysts and decision makers. Core Data Services team consists of Platform engineering team, Data Engineering, Data Enablement and ultimate owner and operator - Operations team.

As part of the Core Data Services team BI Operations leads that the day today tasked with full ownership and management of the Enterprise BI platform.

We are looking for a seasoned professional who has experience owning and operating large scale systems at enterprise level, continuously improving operational metrics. In other words, running a center of excellence with stability and discipline practices as a bedrock of continuous innovation.

THE ROLE

As a Business Intelligence Operations lead in Core Data Services you will work on defining and implementing operational practices in the area of BI tools management, deployment and change management, data access and controls, operations of reports and dashbaords, performance, scalability, cost control and management of critical incidents.

Core Data Services has made good progress of adopting Spark as main ETL engine and realizing the value of highly functional, performant and transparent Data Lake, all this while maintaining and streamlining existing data infrastructure and doing careful migration. Team's focus is on maximizing the functionality, value and content, optimizing cost of ownership and usability of delivered data services.

WHAT THIS ROLE WILL DO

  • Build and maintain Inventory of Business intelligence artifacts such as Users, reports connections, credentials, and dashboards

  • Monitor failures and deep dive into query performance

  • Define and implement operational best practices, observability, managing change and mitigating risk for enterprise BI systems

  • Manage and support production processes for our bI tools such as Cognos, DOMO, Tableau, in house developed BI tools running on large-scale low latency databases including Delta lake, S3, Teradata and Snowflake.

  • Develop automation for monitoring and operations observability

  • Help with the Migration of User queries and reports for the mission- critical Teradata migration to Databricks

  • Identify opportunities to simplify the tools footprint and rationalize the usage and tools adaption

  • Work with vendors both on BI and also on the database to troubleshoot issues, apply patches and fix, follow up and understand their roadmap

  • Monitor business Critical reports and dashboards. Help in performance tuning and proactively communicate of any possible SLA delays

  • Work with our global workforce and ensure the quality of the work meets the customer needs

  • Triage business reported data issues and engaged with respective teams until the issues are resolved

  • Perform periodic audits on the user's access to ensure we follow the data privacy guidelines

  • Assist in the GRC process form the external auditors

  • Perform data forensics of the User queries and derived the root cause for the problem and propose acceptable resolution and implement them.

  • Manage technical documentation and systems providing transparency in platform functionality using live meta-data and operational dashboards

    TECHNICAL SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

  • 5+ years' previous engineering leadership experience leading global teams; at least 3 years of which should be as a group leader in a SaaS, cloud, or technology services company managing teams across multiple international time zones

  • MS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or equivalent experience delivering proven business results

  • Deep understanding of Bi tools and running service delivery in a cloud. Familiar with cost control and optimization, effective use of cloud services, infrastructure as a service, system control, monitoring and alerting

  • Experience with technical stack which includes

  • BI Tools like DOMO, Cognos, Tableau, Business objects

  • Data Lake technologies like S3, AWS Data Lake, Databricks Delta lake;

  • Data warehousing tech like Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle EDW;

  • Experience supporting business analysis and forensics and issue triage

  • Strategic thinker with very strong focus on operational practices and service delivery

  • Highly self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills

  • Experience selecting, managing, and motivating technically diverse team of contractors.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously with an appropriate sense of urgency.
